Geezer pleaser and old timer really make it obvious that all your comic book names are for kids hahah

Where is the “who cares”? Option. I don’t mean that in a critical way of your poll, I mean it cause I’m sincerely indifferent. I’ve adopted several nicknames, and others I just can’t get on board with. But over all it’s not a big deal either way.

I’ve always found getting worked up over watch nicknames to be more childish than the nicknames themselves.

That said, rolex themselves have embraced the nicknames. Check out the search functionality on the site and type in Batman.

I think sometimes is actually useful to have nicknames, although it's not always clear. I'm thinking of the Wimbledon. Unlike batman/batgirl, which refer to a specific configuration, Wimbledon can be any of the several variations.

I look through Rolex the FS section and see President in description at least once per page. I didn’t think there was alternate bracelet for the Day/Date.

Thanks for your comments. Replying in the order proposed.

*Someone else could (you?) create a more ambiguous or adventurous poll covering answers for fence sitters or those who couldn’t care less. This thread isn’t directed at those members. Hence, no poll answer for those people.

*I’m unsure if you’re implying that I’m worked up? If so, your assessment is ill placed. My interest was exactly what the thread has gleaned thus far. The nicknames are proving extremely divisive until now. Let us see how it continues to unfold.

*The nickname embracing or not by Rolex isn’t the point of the thread. Rolex’s opinion wasn’t sought. Instead, the thread is directed at possibly the world’s most avid Rolex fans (TRF members), only. Again, those are the people (us) who have interacted with both thread and poll.

Not names I'd use but only mildly annoyed by others doing so.

It's more disappointing to see the predictable 4 Rolex collections of the top most nicknamed references.

Mixed…I love Kermit but hate Starbucks…. I love Batgirl but hate John Mayor….overall I like them. Sometimes people try to hard to come up with something. Nicknames just need to happen.

Yep, need a third option.

"Ok with those that make perfect sense"

"Coke" and "Pepsi" - totally fine by me as they differentiate two versions of the same watch.

"Bluesy" - I appreciate it was first coined by a respected former member here who sadly passed, but it just sounds like something a fat, drunk, sleazy, 80's porn peddler would say. Its not even spelled correctly ffs....

"Batman/Batgirl" - that's a "meh..." from me.

"Panda" is just wrong for the white SS ceramic Daytona. Its not. "Inverted dusky leaf monkey" is more like it, but, yeah, that's not going to flow off the tongue

"Rootbeer" works for the 5 digit ref but not for the 6.

"Kermit" Seriously? the character was all green. It really makes no sense. Strangely "Starbucks" does make sense in the context of their shopfronts being green, black and white.

"Hulk" Well the character was oversized and not exactly pretty so I guess that one makes sense

*I'm not starting a poll about this lol. The only reason why I mentioned my general indifference is because there are some nicknames I like and some I think are ridiculous. So to make this black and white, lumps you into one or the other and like many things in life it doesn't always work like that. That's why there is a comment section, for people like me that have an opinion but don't fully subscribe to one group or the other. Especially since you asked what people think "deep down", it seems weird that you wouldn't want to welcome opinions outside of YES or NO.

*I 100% was not implying that you're worked up. But there are definitely people in the 5 pages of responses that are. I think it's absurd to get upset over nicknames. I'd think you'd agree since you started a poll about it.

*My point of mentioning Rolex adopting the nicknames wasn't intended to replace votes of actual enthusiasts. It was just a little tid bit of info, mostly to counter those that feel anyone that acknowledges nicknames is childish. It's significant because the brand that brought us all here and the that the forum is named after, acknowledges such nicknames. So while it doesn't replace votes I do think it's a relevant contribution to the general discussion.

Fully understood. The nickname topic has proven quite divisive, don’t you agree?
