Only time will tell.

I've been saying since August 2019, Sub-MSRP 2nd hand DaytonaC by Q4 2024... COVID may have moved that window up to Q4 2022.

You obviously don’t know the secondary market for a white dial Daytona. DavidSW & Bob’s have used pieces with scratches galore for for $22k+. I received mine with everything included, brand new unworn with all the stickers intact for only $1,500 more.

Though I love seeing your salty responses, both parties made out with a good deal. The rest waiting for a Daytona from their SA “list”. Don’t hold your breath.

There goes the “demand” everyone is talking about. Those watches are not even on Chrono24, TRF, eBay, they don’t know how to sell them.

I’m sure the same people would have an issue with me paying $20k over MSRP for a Porsche 911 GT3RS

Pay to play people

given the situation right now I would not be surprised at all. I feel they probably have quite a bit in stock

Lol. It’s not personal, to each their own. FWIW I can afford it, I just wouldn’t pay it. I’d just pay a few grand more for a PM. Buy one of those and you’ll be on the list for a 6500 at retail. For example, I am now looking at an AP because the price is justified.

Enjoy it in good health.

Yes, dealer in Italy laughed at me, he said 21000€ fixed price for black daytona without papers.. And things in Italy are very bad regarding COVID19.

They won't. It will be over time.

No one expects big dealers to slash Daytonas to $15k tomorrow.

On spec!?!? I doubt it. They already had a buyer at over $20k if they offered you that.

If not, those are the greys that will go out of business unless they can get back their margins on pieces they move now to balance it out

I would be interested in seeing the email from Watchfinder offering you 17000 euros for your watch, 1. Watchfinder does not offering in euros, 2. Watchfinder gives a low to high estimate figure they would pay for the watch.

SS White Daytona gray offered $16k its BNIB
BLRO was offered $12.5k BNIB
Hulk was offered $10.5k BNIB

What prices are you guys getting? Since all these SS pieces are falling so fast I dont know what is a good price as of today that grays are offering! I know the BLNR is screwed. My friend already sold his for under MSRP few days ago.
Did they buy from a grey dealer or AD at msrp?

I'm sure this has been answered before but why on earth would Rolex set the MSRP for this watch at $12.5k, when heretofore they could command almost double that? Increase the mystique by making them so highly sought after?

Lolol.

At $25k msrp Rolex loses me as a customer to ALS or AP

They have a niche market and are successful.

LOL

Why does Rolex did not increase all prices by 100%? You guys forget that Rolex makes 1,000,000 watches/year, thats like 5,000 watches for each business day of the year, and there are plenty of other very desirable brands, as AP or PP.

You can't sell 1,000,000 watches just for TRF members.

Rolex knows the true value of their Daytona.

Daytona doesn't come close to what's out there for $23k. That would be embarrassing

Rolex excel at 2 things:

1. They make very good tool watches. Do not confuse them with haute horlogerie timepieces
2. Marketing. Rolex is one of the most valuable brand names in the world

The ‘shortage’ of SS references of the past few years have been driven largely by social media hype. People that don’t care about watches and ‘don’t love horology’ (in the words of Max Busser of MB&F) are responsible for driving up prices.

At these prices, buyers are paying a premium for the right to ‘flex’. Still, you need only one px to set the market and two to have a competitive situation and push the price up.

CRM Jewelers have a black C Daytona for 18.5k if anyone wants one. Pretty good deal for right now. Will come down more in the coming months, but I don’t think you can’t beat it for right now.
