I bought the LN at first, decided that i wanted one that less people had, and ended up getting the LV. I wear the watch everywhere. I wore it all around New Zealand on holiday for 5 weeks in August 2011. Fantastic watch.
I did have the old 16610LV. But my new LV is so well built and i can honestly say it will last for ages. I still miss my old LV, as the new LV is bigger, but you get used to the larger size after a while. As to my new LV. I also really like the green face, it is black from certain angles, and then green when looking straight on. The bezel green is really nice and looks fantastic. You really have to see the watch in the flesh, it looks so different than most internet sites where it does not do it justice. Overall, never regretted going for the new LV. |

Beat it up, enjoy it, then let Rolex bring it back to Like-New condition so the love of a new watch can start all over again. [/QUOTE]
I am inspired. Wearing while typing now. Getting nuts over here. Whu hu!!! |

Go with the black! I'm about to... I'm not the biggest fan of the green dial, it almost seems it has a sunburst effect to me, which I've never liked imho. Cheers!! Good luck

The green is cool, but I don't think you can "wear" it with everything. As for the black you can literally wear with any outfit, or any weather condition.

I have LV and the green is surprisingly goes good with most colors. Especially when your dials color change from almost black to light green depends on the light.

Congratulations on getting your degree in Architecture. My wife is an Architect, so I know exactly how hard you are working. :)
If you know this will be your only Rolex, then I would suggest you go with classic black. A black Rolex submariner is about as classic Rolex there is. And if I could add my opinion, the black Rolex submariner no date is a really special one. I go to 'Architect' parties all the time, and what is on a man's wrist is very very important as all Architects will observe what kind of watch you wear. A classic simple Rolex will go as far as you wish to go in those circles, as many Architects do not wear Rolex (from what I've seen). Go for a classic first, you need a solid foundation before you can go up. |

I selected the green, specifically because it was different. You will have certain dress limitations, but one could easily argue that a Sub should not be worn to a "black tie" affair. Determine what makes you happy.

I chose the black simply because it is a more versatile watch compared to the Lv.
But I agree with those that said to get them both as they complement each other well. I think I will eventually adding an LV to the collection |

Really??? I find the green to be gorgeous in pics but not so much in person. The green wore on me after a while. The black will never disappoint. If you need color then the bluesy is the way to go!

If one was to only get one Rolex, then it should be the 116610 LN as classic black dial and bezel will always remain in fashion. An well rounded watch for all occasions.
If one were to add to an existing collection between these two, then I would suggest the 116610 LV. The green suburst dial is truly stunning and will add diversity to any collection.

I used to be in love with the green.
Then I realized that black ceramic was always in my heart and the green I wanted was the old one. |

Interesting how this five year old thread has slowly gone from suggesting the black mostly to selecting the green mostly. I have both, love both, but the green is just cooler with the sunburst ever changing green!

As a first watch I'd go for black. But then I would get bored with it and flip it for the green Hulk, or maybe just own both... So clearly black now and green later. If you are the dary type, green now!

I just got the LV today....stunning watch. I got it in trade with the intention of most likely selling it but I'm going to think hard about that. My wife loves it too. She said whenever we would go to ADs and browse at watches, the "green one" she was always drawn too, she never told me that though...until she saw it today. It really is a beautiful watch and doesn't look like anything else out there which I like. I am a huge ExpII polar fan for that reason too, it's different. I'm sure the OP has made his decision by now though. lol
