My favorite watch at the moment. So comfortable. I was traveling last week and had my GMT IIc with me which was nice, but as soon as I got home and unpacked I put on Exp I and did not take it off since.

Gents does 214270 have same hands as 14270 or are they bit different?

But I do prefer the 36mm model - dial seems to be better balanced with the EXPLORER in the upper part of the dial. |

the shorter hands have the effect of creating a very "open" dial which is pretty interesting.

Damn you people!!!
This thread has persuaded me that I must have a 114270 even though I've only bought 1950s & 60s watches previously. |

Now you knw how I felt 5 months ago, it's a fantastic piece, 36mm one is the one too have, possibly best stainless steel Rolex model! Now hard part is locating one at a good price!

The Climber's Timer
Hi folks,
Don't think this has been posted here already (apologies if it has), but there's a nice test review of the Explorer in the current issue of Watchtime.com: http://www.watchtime.com/reviews/cli...olex-explorer/ Gets an overall score of 90% - not too shabby! |

Tried on a couple in Burlington Arcade today. 36mm is perfect for me. One was £3700 & the other (with box & papers) was £3750. Neither cheap, both very nice indeed.

Burlington arcade prices are exorbitant, try second time round near bond street station. I bought mine from Spain for £2300 inclusive of cost of travel.

No worries. I bought it from a private collector they're usually where you can get best prices from as you cut out the middle man I.e. the dealer. I understand a bit of Spanish and the guy understood a bit of English so we got by. I found him on chrono24, you get best prices in Italy and Spain when it comes to Rolexes. If you know how to spot a real from a fake I would highly recommend collecting in person.

39mm Explorer with Leather Straps
Bought a couple leather straps for my 39mm Explorer from Crown & Buckle, same leather but one is 20/18 with whitish stitching and the other is 20/20 with dark brown stitching.
Here are some pictures at work:
