Just got him back from service, I'd love to find a NOS crystal, but that's not proving too easy. Also currently hunting for a Bellmatic. Specifically a 4006-6031 if anyone has any leads.

Thanks I ended up getting it serviced and flipped. Kind of regret it now, looking at that post again.

Thanks! It's a 6139 0040 Bullhead. They came in 2 color schemes, blue and brown.

Blue Saturday
The day and date fonts are very 1960s if you look closely.

So nice. Making up my mind on a Seiko chrono is proving to be impossible. There's so many different references I love.

I just acquired this 1962 Seiko Cronos, which was the first Seiko dive watch (it was actually advertised as a dive watch back in the day) to have a depth rating on the dial. It's also a cover model on one of my Japanese Seiko reference books. It's quite a substantial piece, with pretty solid balance-bridge movement.

Very nice Adam.
That movement is excellent. I could jump on that bridge.

Last of the Lord Marvels, from 1978. This reference (5740-8000) was first introduced in 1967, as Seiko's first Hi-Beat 36000bph watch, and outlived the original King Seiko and Grand Seiko lines, which finally succumbed to the quartz crisis in the mid-70s. Only two dials were offered: silver sticks and linen Arabics.

Good morning sir!!! Not trying to hijack the thread but, I have a Seiko World Time Model 6217 I believe, auto, 17 jewel movement. I thought this model came out with some connection to the 64 Olympics also. My friend bought it when he was overseas during the Vietnam War. I've had it since 7TH grade!! Know anything about the origins of this model???

A Japanese Instagram friend recently pointed out that my 1962 Seiko Cronos is the same (or very similar) as the one worn by Eiji Okda in the Oscar-nominated Woman in the Dunes (1964).
Fortunately I already own the DVD so was able to get right to re-watching it Fun Fact: Director Hiroshi Teshigahara was nominated for Best Director for this film at the 38th Academy Awards, but lost to Robert Wise, who won for The Sound of Music.

On the wrist yesterday. A more common but still beautiful vintage GS.
This is a 5645. Pretty much clean as a whistle but perhaps not NOS. These watches are just really perfect, the case size, the case design obviously and the clean and simple dials. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
