Are there any straps that can be made to fit the 5711 that will stay securely in place? Even if not OEM, perhaps a good compromise would be to fit the watch with a strap temporarily so that the bracelet, and only the bracelet, can be sent for investigation. That way you get to wear it, you're guaranteed the whole watch won't be swapped, but you get the issue properly rectified.

I can’t be totally sure; it may be murkier than you think. I know a lot has changed in 15 years, but my warranty replacement in 2005 required my calling H Stern directly, then prodding AD to be more proactive. AD told me it would be replaced and they were just waiting on PP to have one available. After two months I called distributor, explained the situation, then asked if it was really that hard to get a new 5065. They salt it shouldn’t be at all. I contacted the AD with that information and had a watch two weeks. I felt as going AD never did anything besides sending my old one in and waiting for one to come in through normal supply lines. |

Your AD should be your only contact and they better work out a solution for you w Rhone ASAP. You trying to work a separate channel w Patek directly may complicate matters and would only be necessary if your AD refused to take care of the issue. This I cannot imagine unless we don't have the full picture. |

I am working with the AD only, but as I said in the update they didn't seem that bothered really, like it wasn’t a big issue. They didn’t say they contacted PP and never said they would after seeing the marks. As they removed all the marks again, there’s nothing for PP to see. Even with a loupe the finish is perfect now, but the rust was days old. It was left as I said in my update, that is the whole story.
From my experience with boats stainless steel takes a while for rust to take, in the early stages it will rub of easily. That’s why I am laving it for a few weeks before going back. |

Unfortunately, I have also found some rust on my 5711’s bracelet as well.
I forgot to take pictures. But strangely enough, the location and pattern of the rust is almost identical to Bonsai Man’s 5711. I took it to PPSC and they put cleaned it with the ultrasonic cleaner. It is gone for now. The SC said if the rust comes back, they would have to contact PP Genève. They refused to change the bracelet for me today. Considering that I still have warranty left, I think this is completely out of order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wondering if a specific batch of 2019 5711s is affected or if it is a more general problem. Bonsai Man's 5711 was from April 2019 - when did you get yours? |

Intriguing indeed. Especially when PPSC refuses to replace the bracelet even if the watch is still under warranty. If the rust comes back and they still refuse to replace it, I will have to contact PP Genève. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Mine is from July 2018 which makes me wonder if I should go for a swim in salt water to force the issue while it is under warranty...
Have there been any changes in the way you wear or store the watch before you noticed the rust? |

My guess is that something PP is using in the brushing process of the bracelet is leaving trace material embedded in the finish and causing an electrolytic reaction. If you look at a brushed finish under high magnification you can see how rough it really is.

Don’t take a steel 5711 in the sea, it will probably turn orange with rust immediately.

Oh but more seriously, if your 5711 rusts Patek Philippe will refuse to replace your rusty bracelet regardless of warranty.

I was referring to ppalasthira case being refused a new bracelet due to rust.
ppalasthira has now come forward with the same issue but was refused a new bracelet by the PPSC |
