Great stuff thanks for posting. I have the reference 17013, would love to know around what year it was released, I'm guessing the 90's but I guess I'll take a look at the serial number and try to find out from there. I wasn't sure if the gold was "Rolesor" but it definitely has an aged look to it, still shines but different than a freshly polished gold ring for example.

The A and B signifies different bracelet models, the older ones had smaller bracelet screws, the later has larger screws like on the current Rolex models. The 14k gold models were mainly made for the American market from what I gather. You can tell them apart by the colour of the gold, the 18k has a much more reddish and darker hue.
14k bracelet links are no longer available from Rolex, so if you order one the colour will mismatch on a 14k bracelet with the 18k link... |

Do you know if the fluted bezels on the A models were also 14k, or were they all 18k?

Nice participation in post. I have three OQs; 17013 18k/SS, 17014 18 k WG bezel and SS, 19019 day-date white gold. I enjoy them along with my mechanicals.

However, today you cannot buy anything in 14k from Rolex anymore, so any service bezels will also be 18k. |

How much does a standard DJ typically go for on the Oysterquartz. I know there are a ton of variables but just a general non specific range is all I am asking.

$2000 for one unserviced with worn out bracelet up to $6000 or so for a mint one with boxes and papers... all depends. There are still bargains to be found now and then.

Interesting, thank you for the info. A friend has one passed down from his father and I always think it’s cool when I see him wear it. Love the bracelet and defiantly a cool differentiator to the common “Rolex”.

That's a first for me too. I've never seen an OQ dial like that before!

Great thread! Some nice examples shown here. I've always liked the Oysterquartz and the more modern/non-traditional style of their cases and bracelets. I think these are a bit underappreciated and there is not as much discussion as the Oyster Perpetual models.
I was wondering from some of you owners.....What's it like wearing one of these in the "wild"? Not everyone is a watch aficionado but as we all know, most of the general public knows what a Rolex is. Also, most of the general public connects a quartz Rolex with a fake one. What are people's reactions to your Oysterquartz? Do a number of people automatically criticize you and say that you have a fake watch? I was always curious about this. |

What is the correct caseback tool sizing for these? I bought a couple and neither fit very well.
