Regarding the statement of fact. If your wife asks do I look fat, are you going to say yes you look like a whale? It’s a statement of fact! There’s a right way and wrong way to respond to people and his statement was not how you respond. If he said something like “We understand that new releases are always going to be controversial but ultimately it’s up to the market to decide” then less people wouldn’t have an issue with it. His response comes off as extremely arrogant and entitled coming from a nepo baby trying to prove that he’s not.

The article in French, which I read as well in Bilan does not state this. The article reports that TS said in French: « 99% de ces haters n’ont aucune Patek et n’en achèteront jamais », which means: 99% of these haters do not have any Patek and will not buy any ». TS is not referring to these « haters » being rich or poor. This is something that is not in the article.

This was an interesting article that i came across in the NY Times today thought I would share it. Even though the Cubitus is Pateks first new collection in 25 years - a British watchmaker already had a similar watch on the market at much cheaper price.

Just read the article, it honestly seems fake. The interviewer questions seem incredibly aggressive and crude, and I just don’t see TS responding this way. I’ve seen multiple interviews of TS on video, and he’s a pretty classy guy.

I mean the toughest question watch media like Revolution or Hodinkee normally ask in interviews are like ,,What is your favorite strap color, Sir?“
In addition if you get the questions in advance of an „interview“ you have enough time to hide your real character.

Patek is certainly a watch company with a great history. The question is what are they now with their current offerings under their current leadership?

I for one am not inspired to buy any of their current products at their outlandish prices. Too many other great brands available including many incredible independents.

If I purchase something now, I think I would be simply purchasing the name on the dial.
