This was an interesting article that i came across in the NY Times today thought I would share it. Even though the Cubitus is Pateks first new collection in 25 years - a British watchmaker already had a similar watch on the market at much cheaper price.

Just read the article, it honestly seems fake. The interviewer questions seem incredibly aggressive and crude, and I just don’t see TS responding this way. I’ve seen multiple interviews of TS on video, and he’s a pretty classy guy.

Maybe you and Mr. Stern are just not used to real journalism? I mean the toughest question watch media like Revolution or Hodinkee normally ask in interviews are like ,,What is your favorite strap color, Sir?“ In addition if you get the questions in advance of an „interview“ you have enough time to hide your real character. |

The House of Patek Philippe is fine long-term, but short-term-ish sure some might not see an upward trajectory under Thierry's 'vision'. Ok, perhaps, maybe Thierry has not really been that beneficial for moving the House of Patek Philippe forward moreso than benefitting from the recent massive bubble. Soon we may see who is swimming naked (looking at you UN), tho have faith as the longstanding and historic design House of Patek Philippe is far more than just Thierry. His reaction seems to have surprised many, too, though perhaps he was never really prepared for the task (job) at hand. Just being a member of some family ('Lucky Sperm') does not mean you are qualified as a leader who inspires greatness. "You can't force an agenda, Mr. Alderson. You have to inspire one." -- Phillip Price How many reading this are truly inspired by the Nautilus² (a.k.a. Cubitus)?

Patek is certainly a watch company with a great history. The question is what are they now with their current offerings under their current leadership?
I for one am not inspired to buy any of their current products at their outlandish prices. Too many other great brands available including many incredible independents. If I purchase something now, I think I would be simply purchasing the name on the dial. |

It's not just me who seems unimpressed. Have zero doubt PP will sell every model produced. We live in interesting times. PS: If apologies are needed, please consider them offered. Truly do hope their next release is absolutely incredible and is universally very well received. Am bowing out of this thread.

“Speaking of criticism: The Cubitus was leaked two days before its launch and caused a shitstorm. What does that do to you?” Doesn’t sound very professional from a “real journalist”. Sounds like a d bag trying to stoke a response. |
