H. Moser & Cie - general thoughts
Thanks!! Having bought and sold 40+ watches, I’m just realizing this is the first new watch (excluding toss around stuff) I have ever owned. I’ve always bought second hand. I’m pretty excited to be in the Moser world now. |

Not normally one to name drop, but pretty interesting tidbit. I got to meet Ed and Nick a little over a year ago. I brought up the idea of creating this watch for customers (they created a one off mosaic endeavor about two years ago or so in blue, the mosaic was first used in the Alp tourbillon). They seemed initially hesitant, but I really thought it was such an interesting dial that they would have buyers. Left thinking they wouldn’t make it, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the release on IG. Anyway, pretty cool that they seriously take feedback and suggestions from customers.

Congrats! Very unusual to see such artisanal dial cased in steel. Looks fantastic.

I had never explored this brand until now. I went into my local AD as he also carries Journe. Was initially interested in that brand. No inventory.
The sales guy and I started talking and he started showing me some Moser/Laurent Ferrier and Parmigiani Ferrier. I have smaller wrists so am somewhat limited in what I can wear. After some back and forth I am pleased to report that I put down a deposit on a streamliner. I should have it by end of year and will post some pics, Looking forward to joining this club. |

They are nice and I was seriously tempted yesterday but in the end bought an ALS saxonia thin 40mm for only £2000 more.

A novelty is coming, with integrated bracelet.
It's announced on their website... "Melting down two greats together for an explosive result. To be unveiled on the 30th of August." Me, who was thinking about selling two or three Rolexes because of the current atmosphere and risks, it is rather timely. I hope this will be convincing.

Just up on their website and IG. And indeed it is grey fume dial streamliner case with perpetual calendar. I like it. But will probably pass. Already have the Streamliner grey chrono which I absolutely love. And yeah I know its very different but for me it is too much to spend on a watch that looks so similar.

~$55K USD is certainly too rich for my blood. Not sure how I feel about the location of the date aperture, but I like that it is precisely aligned with an hour marker. I also like seeing the date window lumed, I think that's a nice touch. I wish all the hands, at least the seconds hand, were lumed. All in all, I think the chronograph version is more desirable.

Very cool watch all around. I might be tempted if it wasn't very much on the large side for my smallish wrists.

May be a missed opportunity to make this an automatic movement. On the brightside it's a 7 day power reserve (168hr).
I think smaller wrists would be presently surprised by how streamliners wear with virtually no lugs. Although the Centre seconds is 40mm diameter, it looks and feels closer to a 38mm. |
