I would like to know about this as well... what is the difference between a 2006 YM midsize and 2013 YM midsize?

Any info on pre 1998/99 mid-size movement?
I have read that sometime around 98/99 Rolex changed the movement on the 29mm and 35mm (to 2235) but I can't find a reference to what it was before that anywhere. I am looking at a 1997 two tone YM and would like to know more about what movement was in the ladies and mid-size during that era. Thanks.

From what I understand, this model was released in 2012. I purchased mine just yesterday.

Yes, 10%. Being new to Rolex with their pricing restrictions, I don't know if that was good or if I made a horrible mistake, but it's done now. :P

Yes, that's correct. The first midsize versions were the 68623 (two-tone)
and 68628 (18k). Similarly for the 29mm version, the 69623 and 69628.
They all had the 2135 movement. In 1999, when they changed to the
2235 movement they renumbered them and also added the leading '1' to
the models, eg. 168623. The platinum/steel version was first released in
1999 so you'll only find those as the 168622 & 169622 with the 2235
movement.

Note also that the dial markings are helpful. If it says 'Swiss' at 6pm it's
most likely the 2135-based 68623, if 'Swiss Made', it's the 2235-based
168623. Not cast in stone but helpful. Looking around you see lots of
68623 with 'U' serial numbers. Must have made a whole bunch of the cases
that year.

The 2135 is reportedly a very good, reliable, movement. Main functional
difference is a balance cock vs balance bridge, but there's differing opinions
about what practical importance that carries. I'm not qualified to give an
opinion on that. There are good writeups on the 2135 around the web.

Is this the standard on all Yacht Masters or is it different for older models?

Is 16622 with silver dial discontinued, I can't find it on Rolex website?

16622 is no longer in production since rolex already came up with the newer 116622 which has very minor changes only. but you can still see a lot of them in the market since it's not really a fast moving watch. yes, the 16622 has a 120 click bezel as well.

IMHO, had rolex not come up with the blue dial 116622, they might have not changed the reference number since 116622 and 16622 platinum dial are almost identical.

The new blue dialed version looks better than the old platinum, but it also looks cheaper, because it only has a steel dial instead of a platinum one.
The platinum is therefore I think more special, the bue one justs looks better.

First off...thanks for allowing me to be a snooper for a week or so....this is my first post!!

I have a YG/SS Midsize Yacht Master with white dial that I purchased in 1997 (my second Rolex then). The watch was my daily wearer for a few years, but it has been in the box for nearly 8 years now. I have been wearing a Cartier Santos 100 XL since that time.

I am considering trading the Yacht Master in on a new WG Sky Dweller with a black face. Any thoughts on the value of this watch or others with an interest level for a Midsize?

The Midsize is just too small for me and with the advent of larger mm watches, this beauty just stays in the box.
