Beauties!
Question for the rifle aficionados, is the Barrett 50mm cal rifle only available to the US army? That rifle is just stupidly powerful.

RoadCarver,
I only had access to the 82A1/M107 (which is what most people commonly associate with Barrett) and that was used by the Explosive Ordinance folks. The Air Force Sniper teams (yes there are a couple of teams) primarily used the M24 not sure if they used the 82A1 or not, it's a heavy beast and not ideal for lugging around. It was designed for hardend targets (vehicles and other equipment) not soft targets. There is another varient called the M95 and that is what's issued specifically for soft targets (bolt action and is more accurate then the semi M107). All that being said, the team guys have access to whatever they want so there are likely Windrunners and other makes out there in limited use. A M95 will run you around 11K for the package if you can find one (they don't pop up very often on the civillian market). Now the 82A1/M107 can be found fairly easily for 7K - 9K. I thought about getting an M95 just to have one (before they're outlawed, lol) but there really isn't anywere to shoot it, the average range only has 100yrd lanes, some 200yrds. You really need a 500yd - 1000yd range with one hell of a backstop to safely have fun with anything that launches a .50bmg. Their effective range is much further, I believe out to 1600yrs or so. Problem is the 750gr bullet goes well beyond even that so you really need to be extremely careful of where you shoot it for the safety of others. Lastly, you can float a retina if you're not careful when shooting .50's. The blast alone is no joke.

Thanks for the reply, I'm just curious since it was featured in that movie (Smoking Aces) and saw a video in YouTube. It was awesome.... I like firearms but its hard to acquire one even for a hobby in Canada - hence airsoft and replica blank firing pistols.

No problem, that was an 82A1 in Smoking Aces. I rarely have time to shoot anymore so mine are nothing more then safe queens. It's been probably 9 months since I've been to the range. Oh well, like a Rolex they hold their value pretty well and some appreciate (ask anybody that owns an M16).

I used a .357 to get my SS Daytona (really tough) almost had to cap the guy!! A 9mm for my 2 Subs. I used a 12-gauge for my GMT II's (the black/red and the blue red) they were twins. It was my .45 for the diamond studded President.

Do you all shoot with your Rollies on? I'm refering to high-power capacity such as .44mag S&W and .300mag riffles in specific, as I am not sure if the movement will be affected.

Which gun?
Greetings,
The guns I own are H&K P7, Colt Python, Para Hawg 9mm, S&W Mod 60,357 Colt Defender, Taurus 22 Mag Ultra Lite, Ruger 10/22 Target, Stainless. I enjoy the guns as much as the 2 Subs. They make good companions Regards, Meatman |

Here's one of my sidearms:
Air King and Bobcat resized.JPG A Beretta 21A Bobcat Inox. I alternate between it and a North American Arms mini revolver. Rawhyde PS Better leave those peanuts alone. They appear to be well defended. |

Looking for a walther PPK now... I carry the Glock 23. I live in Iowa. I know the Tag is not a Rolex, but it was my 1st nice watch. I am sorry about the reflection, I am not the best with the camera and lighting.

Nice to see y'all are interested in firearms too!
My carry setup is very similar to Randy's. A well-worn but reliable H&K P7M8 for daily carry but with a Kahr PM9 for backup. Vehicle pistol = H&K USP Compact Stainless. Just never could get used to the LEM trigger on the P2000's and I prefer SA first shot (the Kahr being the exception) If I have to use a pistol for self-defense at home: Custom STI 2011 in .224 BOZ, one of only 3 functional pistols in the this caliber in private hands. I'll try to get a picture of the STI posted if anyone is interested as that is only really interesting one out of the ones I've listed. Cheers! |
