Don't see the problem. A lot of people trade in their watches every couple of years. What's the harm in her asking, and why do you take offense at it? |

i guess she's just giving you an option in the event you wanted to buy new and they are able to accept a trade in which others may take the offer.

This is a rediculous over reaction.
It's reasonable to think you could be thinking of upgrading your non date sub to a BLNR, the salesperson merely suggesting it. She was doing her job. Your agenda was to "kill time" however the salesperson has a job and that job is ultimately to turn a looker or "time killer" into a buyer so she was making a suggestion. It doesn't sound like she was disrespectful or rude, despite you admitting to being, on that occasion a time waster. People here in the UK are on lists for BLNR.....you "kill time" by trying one on, not even intending to buy it. Then you are offended that the salesperson offered you their trade in option, in an attempt to close the sale or help you walk out wearing the BLNR you were looking at. And I am a sales executive/manager with 18 years experience in luxury goods/business to business sales and customer services. If I was that branch manager, I'd expect my salesperson to offer the trade in option if we as a business offered it. If you hadn't been a member for several years I'd be calling TROLL too |

What were you looking for? An opening statement? Qualifying questions? Next level probing to see if you travel making the GMT a better fit for you watch needs? Asking if the lack of a date on your 114060 has cost you money/deals/promotions or other pain so that she could present the relevant benefits you would experience by upgrading? She did go for a quick trial close and I applaud that. IMO she was probably a consummate sales professional and saw you as the tire kicker you admitted to being. |

What did I just read? Lighten up and don't be so sensitive! This is why we have these PC lists now.

Salesperson just going through some wordtracks to deal with another tirekicker...nothing offensive or insulting by her in the least... It doesn't really matter anyway. OP was just loitering at the dealer looking for a "gotcha" situation to happen so he could come on the forum and tell us all about it. Why this is a "thing" for some Rolexforum members, I'll never know... I guess I could ask the OP that... Why are you (OP) telling Rolexforums about this "incident"? |

It was nice of her to offer. Some people are shy and are not used to making deals & trades and might feel uncomfortable asking for a part-exchange deal. She likely understands this and so she's communicating to you all the options that she has at her disposal.

I just want to hear his 'follow up comment' exploiting how the 'salesperson blew it on several levels' so we can all laugh at his logic for another 5 pages

i'm curious as to which other Rolexes the OP owns or just the Sub no date
Although a fabulous watch, a classic do everything watch and not cheap, it certainly isn't super expensive or exclusive or rare considering the other options out there in the Rolex line up and other brands. |

This thread is not really going the way the OP had wished for.

Also not certain as to the state of mind of the OP. Seems a bit on the reactionary end of things. Perhaps reaction formation to really wanting the BLNR. Really no reason to be harsh on the OP however. |

I agree. I don't see any issue at all except an overly sensitive buyer.

Yes, as I always say if you want the AD to know you are a big deal, have the monthly bath before you go in, not after, rookie mistake.

I recently read an article on Millennials and their need for safe spaces, trigger points, and fear of micro-aggressions (as in perceived slights). That adolescence is no longer a transitional state to adulthood, but an end-state. They want to be cocooned against the sharp edges of reality.
Naturally there are many exceptions, but this original post seems to prove the point. But I could be completely wrong. |

Not too bad, Idk what you guys think but sometimes AD salesman don't know as much about Rolex as many of the TRF members do lol (which is kind of funny because they literally are paid to sell jewelry as their job)
