It is an Omega strap for deployant that I purchased here awhile back and seem to be pretty rare. I don’t even know which omega they were originally sold on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Does the new release Speedy white dial change anybody's thinking on the the desirability of a Speedy? I am hoping to see it soon. The white dial may make it wear big.

Just my opinion.
When I see someone with a Speedmaster, I know they have horology knowledge. When I see someone with a Daytona, I know they care about status and may not know much about watches. Obviously the above is a generalisation. |

They are both amazing watches but truly in different leagues.
Speedy is an icon and historical legend. The Daytona is the DAYTONA, FULL STOP. If you can get the Daytona at a good price ALWAYS go for it. Finding a speedmaster is as easy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The Daytona is fine. There's really not much that's interesting about it except for a hype cycle for the past 20 years or so. There are countless Rolex watches I find more interesting and appealing.
The Speedmaster is an incredible, pedigreed watch even apart from its space history. That doesn't mean you have to like it, but it's just a fact of their contexts. |

Daytona vs Omega moon watch
Quote:
Hahaha. Thats funny. You actually are touching on why I don’t really care for Omega in general. Many Omega owners have this chip on their shoulder and think they’re superior because they haven’t fallen for the general publics allure to the Rolex. “Look at me, I’m so above the hype!” But let’s face it, there are annoying reasons for people wearing any watch, whether it be an Omega or a Rolex. I don’t really judge anyone for their watch choice and think assumptions of people based on their watch is silly. But generalizations and poking at people can be fun. lol While I don’t see a deep Omega collection in my future, I would like to own a traditional Speedy one day…but not at the expense of any of my Daytona’s. The snoopy is a great one and fun for the kids and kids at heart. The screw in pushers of the daytona doesn't give unbridled access to the chrono the speedy does.

If I see someone wearing a Speedy Pro, he is almost certainly a watch enthusiast. If I see someone wearing a Submariner, a Daytona, or a Seamaster, he most likely is not. And there's nothing wrong with that! But we've all had the experience of: "Nice Submariner!" *offended expression* "What do you mean? It's a Rolex!" Likewise someone wearing a Tudor Sub these days is more likely to be a real Rolex fan/collector than someone wearing a Rolex Sub. But obviously real fans wear the Rolex too! |

Many Daytonas have been sold for millions of dollars (vintage). It is arguably the most sought after watch in the world. What Omega watch has been sold for that much? It's THE moon watch right? Surely it should be valued at an astronomical price like the Daytona right?
Omega lacks the prestige of Rolex, not a status symbol, ugly bracelets, too many special editions watering down the brand, allowed a plastic Swatch knockoff, Speedmaster is a watch for a 12 year old or it's a watch you get when you graduate school. A train-wreck. All the normies can reason their moon watch status blah blah all they want. At the end of the say, they're readily available, not exclusive, and very easy to get. My 16 year old nephew rocks one, you guys can all match him Yall can riot and bash me all you want but I did not say one lie and I will die on this hill. Ready for the crucifixion! |

The history of Omega going to the moon is incredibly cool, it adds a whole new level of fascinating and significance to it, its definitely a tough choice tho.

I’m definitely a watch geek and I own 2 Daytonas. I wanted to add a Speedmaster to my collection because it’s a beautifully made piece and has a history. However it was just too big for my wrist. I do feel the moon landing history is a bit overdone, but that wouldn’t keep me from owning the watch one way or another.
I just bought my first Patek and it’s not a Nautilus or Aquanaut, but something with a horological history that I was drawn to. The Daytona is probably the most comfortable watch I’ve ever owned and I hate the hype otherwise I’d wear it much more. On another note I think very few people actually use the chrono complication so the push/screw down is a non factor for me either way… |

Speedmaster.
Readability, user-friendliness and value proposition is better than the Daytona. Love the look of the new white dial too. Brand cachet of Rolex sometimes weighs a little too heavy too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This... Just terrible.
I am looking to add a second chrono to my collection. I have tried on the Speedmaster and one word sums it up - dull. For about the same price as the Speedmaster - Thinking about the IWC Chrono Portuguese - so beautiful... |

Absolutely for the kids at heart. I agree with that. This Piece could make one classy and ''Jiggy'' at the same time. Pretty cool.

I can’t think of a single Daytona I’d be remotely interested in. I can think of several Speedies that I still want. Speedy was my first real watch. If I could only keep one watch it would be a simple 861 or 1861.
I think Speedmasters are the culmination of everything I love about mechanical watches. And they are very practical. Daytonas are expensive jewelry that barely show the time. |

In hand, the new white dial Speedmaster looked good but felt cheap in comparison to my Daytona. The speedmaster bracelet felt delicate and the case felt weaker.
That said, I would add a white dial Omega to my collection, but I’m not taking one over a Daytona. |
