Hej Folks, newbie Explorer question. Were any of the late 39mm shorty explorers manufactured using chromalight blue lume or were they all Lumanova. Thanks MM

Blue is the answer, but can we use the "Mark I" moniker instead of "shorty" for the first iteration of 214270 models? I am sensitive.

Oh, and welcome to TRF!

talk me into our out of selling/trading my 4liner 14060M for a 214270 MK2

Current collection (mostly divers)
- Omega SMP 2231.50 (wear mostly on nato)
- MKII LRRP MilSub (actually prefer over sub due to readability)
- MKII Vantage (my "modern" 1016 beater)
- CWC divers

and... the 14060M which honestly hasn't had much wrist time due to the SMP and LRRP.

Always liked the 214270 MK2 with the matte dial. Who knows - just thinking about options.

Like that. The idependent dealer I bought mine from decribed the Explorer as a ” gentleman’s watch” I liked that.

In my eyes it's the purest Rolex, such a classy design. I love my expII but if I ever buy another it'll be one of these. Some great pics btw

Explorer = I am a badass and I don't need a watch to let the world know that.

All other sports models = I think I'm a badass and I need a watch to tell you that.

Hey, I’m new to the forum. 7month with my Explorer and I still get myself looking at the watch without knowing the time afterwards.

1975 1016

Vintage 1016 from 1975, was given to my Dad by my mother for their 5 year anniversary. 44 years later following my Dad's passing my mother gave it to me. I guess my mother had good taste. Hoping to see my son wear it another 30 years.....Rolex 1016-4644.jpg

I can't believe how much I overlooked the Explorer for so many years. I'm so happy with mine now. I'm yet to post a picture of it, I gotta get on that.

What a wonderful memory to be given. One of my prized posessions is my late Father’s watch too. A lovely keepsake which you’ll always remember him by.

Best Wishes

Hello....

Mine says hello
Purchased December 2018
The bezel is simple but love looking at the dial which does have some pop to it.
