Originally i went in wanting a 41.. I put it on and was like hmm first though this is maybe to big.. then i put on the 36 and was like wow this isnt as small as i thought.. then i started staring at the dial and was like hmm this is maybe a bit to small..

I am all about blue dial on a jubilee with the fluted. SO i am just thinking... maybe the white dial is making it look to big? or maybe i am sort of leaning towards the 36 because its a darker dial and on the jubilee like i like it?

I cant decide :( As of now im on "the list" for the 41 but should maybe i should do 36 or is it even an option to be on the "list" for both? haha

What do you guys think?

IMO, 36mm looks better on your wrist. Depends how you like your watches, if you typically wear large watches the 36mm will feel small but it’s not!

I would rock a 36mm only if it were all 18K gold. If it were steel or two tone, I wouldn't buy one. Solid gold is the way to go for a 36mm.

I sold my 41 and got the 36 instead. No regrets.
Wrist size 6.75”
I even made a video about it on YouTube.

Well Rolex first brought it the Datejust in 36 mm size in 1946. Subsequently they brought out the Date in 34 mm size. Now those two sizes accounted for considerable earnings for Rolex over the next decades. Men did not concern themselves with their wrist size, unless being measured for a shirt. Hyping a product was, pretty much, confined to Madison Avenue. IMHO, 34, 36, 41, eh who cares.

I own a date 34mm and an explorer 36.
Much more to my style than the larger 40mm GMT styles.
I have a 6.25 in wrist

I've been wearing a 34mm 15203 (smooth bezel) for the past 25 years. It's as much a part of me as my wedding ring!
I love it!

Just bought a 36 DJ and I have a 6.25" wrist! Took off about 6 links. Love the big statement look.

Sounds like you are leaning towards the 36, so I would recommend that size. Not sure how important the “investment” factor is to you, as you did mention it as a consideration, but to answer your primary question, a 36 should suit you well.

My wrist is 6.6 inches. I have a Rolex Explorer 36mm 124270 and I consider it to be ideal for me in every aspect.

I tried both 36 and 41 at my AD. On my 7 1/4" wrist, the 36 looked too small and the 41 looked just right. I requested a 41 with fluted bezel, white Roman dial and jubilee.

You just need to try them on to be sure.

I'm sure many have said this already. It depends on your wrist size and what you like. I personally have 36mm to 41mm watches that I rotate through and they all look good because I like it! LOL

Cripes. Rolex produced watches sized: 26,woman’s, 31 for either man or woman, 34, 36, OP’s, and datejusts, for years. OK, 40 for the tool watches. The size thing became a trendy thing, and I’m sure Rolex bowed to the marketing department for 39 Explorer and the 41. How many millions of 34 and 36 dates and datejusts have been sold through the decades? Only Rolex would have the figures but of course they won’t tell.

My goal is to acquire a pre owned DJ36 next year if the prices fall (I expect they will). Or new OP. 36 seems like the perfect size. The supersized watch phenomenon is not for me

My wrist is ~7.5 inches and my DJ36 126231 does look small at times, but is the 'classic' look I want with my DJ.

Trends come and go, but I believe the 36mm size will always be a classic, safe choice for a DateJust. Everyone has a slightly different wrist size and shape, trying on is the best way to be sure it works for you.

Sounds like a great size to me, but as others have said, try it on in an AD first to be sure.

I think the 36mm is the most classic look for a Rolex, however it is completely up to your preferences!

I love my SS 36mm white dial Datejust, on my 7 1/2 wrist. I personally think it’s the classic size for a DJ. It gets the most wrist time out of my collection.

Don’t worry, the 36 was the standard size for Rolex for decades. The DJ 36 was given to, presented to, and bought by hundreds of thousands, since the 1950’s, for small, medium and big wrists. Rolex made available a Date in 34. If you like it, keep it, wear it, don’t pay any attention to those who agonize over the diameter of a watch, versus wrist.

So I was always curious if 36 was going to be too small for me so I went out and bought a Vaer S3 quartz 36mm watch to try out the size for a while. Its only like $180 to try out the smaller size for a while. I think Timex makes some 36ish mm watches where you could do the same thing. I found after wearing a 36mm quartz watch for a while that the smaller size was more enjoyable and made my bigger nicer watches less appealing. something to think about just get something cheap that's that size and try it out for a while.
