Collectible? LMFAO

NONE of them especially the hot models. Do you guys know how many of them are in the wild after many years of manufacture? It would be 10s of thousands if not 100s of thousands.

Todays modern Rolex's are NEVER going to be the same as the past ones such as the comex or paul newman.

I’d say the only one of that list that is in the low 10k range is the SD4k.

For the most part, the best collectibles are those that were common and even under-appreciated in their day. Decades ago, Rolex watches were merely a durable, high-quality timepiece that folks didn’t purchase with the intention to hold and sell later. Today, they are a luxury good and are treated as such.

Given the current frenzy for Rolex SS professional models, rampant speculation, and vast quantity of BNIB examples, I doubt that most of the models on OP’s list will ever qualify as “collectible.”

Collectability won’t fly at home. When I ‘pop my clogs’ my wife and daughter have already chosen which watch they’ll grab before my funeral.

How about new Airking? It is quite ugly nowaday, probably lesser desired than other sport models.

Not convinced ?....ok go back ten years and read a thread about the Kermit than....“it will never be collectible etc etc...“

Yes that thread about the Kermit 10 year ago ......the people that posted ......

There is no other Rolex with the yellow crown and the green seconds hand.

Many scoff at it as the leftover parts from an Explorer.

However, when it’s changed and if it’s changed dramatically, especially if Rolex doesn’t do another yellow crown, who knows what’ll be thought of it in 20 years.

I flipped mine for a 216570 because I wanted a sports model. Buying one and putting it in the safe could be an interesting prospect.

I think the TT 116613 SUB with powder blue dial will be one that creeps up in value. Not nearly as many of them as a sunburst dial.

Seiko mm300 has a monoblock case that doesnt let helium ingress in the first place, arguably a more elegant solution

I think your list is pretty spot on.

Unfortunately most of the watches I’ve owned on that list I’ve sold at retail haha.

Happy with my current collection tho.

I have been told that the red letters are going for sure. Reliable AD who has often been spot on.

SD4K. Modern 40mm SS Rolex diver, all the wonderous ceramic and glidylock without fat lugs. I just wish I had one.
