I believe from the interview, smaller sizes would be incoming. I have a feeling that our feelings would change significantly if a smaller size is available.

Smaller size would definitely help. However, the square shape itself is so hard and sharp, it's a bit jarring. It gives the squared off shape a kind of severeness that does take some time to get used to. That's why the rounded edges of the Nautilus gives it a bit more finesse.

But that's the thing with me. If I need to convince myself of the watch's merits, if I have to deep dive analyze the proportions and stylistic choices, then it's not really a "successful" design. The first visceral reactions is "what the h*ll is that", which is not quite the reaction I think Stern was hoping for?

If I'm spending over $40k for a watch, I feel it has to hit me better than "well....I guess I see the merits....."
