I was in the same predicament, decided on the GMT as the extra time zone is very handy, also I will never go deeper that 20m let alone over 100m.

As for the PCL there really robust and will not scratch easily!

I had the same Dilemma, and i went with the GMT2c. I love the simplicity of the Sub over the GMT but the GMT is more practical for me. Very happy with my purchase I made yesterday :)

I'm in the same boat for my first Rolex. I won't really use the different time zone of the GMT other than a yearly/ two yearly vacation.

I think I've just answered myself.

Looking for local AD to order a sub now ;0)

I was deciding for 2 years. Finally getting the GMTIIc.
The added time zone functionality is nice even when someone you communicate with is traveling and the polished center links aren't as flashy as I thought they would be.

I am really happy with the GMTIIc, though the sub is classic and a good choice as well.

+1 on the GMT II. Love it, and quite happy with the purchase. Seems that everyone has a sub, the GMTs are a bit more unique.

I own both - get the SubC - the Glidelock clasp make for very comfortable wearing.

I looked at pictures of both for months and couldnt decide.
As others have said before the only way to decide is to go try them on.
i tried and tried but no ad's had both to try on which made it even harder.
I eventually stumbled accross a store with both.
At this point the sub just felt like the right one to me.
very simple but pure class. im waiting to pick it up as i type.

When I think of Australia I think of the beach for some reason. I own a GMT2C, and I love it. But if I had to go back and do it all over again, I'd probably choose the SubC. And with that you have three dial options. A ND or black date or green (hulk), which I am looking into purchase in the very near future.

I have owned them both and the sub is simpler but, seems to get more attention. I love the sub, but its due to its classic lines.

First, I bought an older style Explorer II. I liked it, still do. It's a keeper.

I planned to add a GMT II (16710) to my wrist for many years. Made some offers for ones that were available, but just never seemed to make a deal that was 'right' enough for me to fork over the moolah. (Probably because that one was not to be? Who knows.)

Somehow over the last 3-4 years, the classic GMT Master IIs are starting to feel dated vis-a-vis the new ones...to me anyway. Smaller? Daintier? I dunno. This is actually a surprise to me really because I typically prefer classic vs new.

This said, I wasn't totally sold on the GMT II-C either because the busier bezel and PCL seemed too "blingy" to me. (I would have brushed those PCLs out, yes.) Plus, there was no cola-inspired bezel replacement options. The cola wars was the coolest thing for me about the older style ones.

So. AD did not have a GMT II-C to try on last week, but they did have a Sub-C.

Voila. I am sold on that one. Less bezel busy-ness. Sophisticatedly simple. My new (to me) Sub-C arrives next week. Subtler is better for me.

Everyone has their own likes/dislikes...that is cool. You asked for an opinion - that's mine. Good luck.

Between the two in SS, for a daily driver with no particular need for the function of either (time zones or dive time), I'd go with the Sub simply because of the brushed center links. It just won't show the wear from daily use like the PCL's on the GMT.

Plus, if you read my signature...

At one point in time owned both, decided to keep the Suc.

The GMTIIc is more dressy, driven by the PCL's (which scratch easily), but the bezel seemed busier to me.

You'll be very happy with either one, but choose well based on your needs.

I had to make the same decision 2 weeks ago, went with he GMT 2c over the Sub Date c, both Stainless, liked the function more and the GMT is a little more dressy, hated to give up the slide clasp on the Sub though. No remorse what so ever.
