you could try contacting the dealers in the above list, they might have the dial you are looking for in stock or be able to source you one. Also contact some watch repairers in the watch repairer list here http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=182662&page=3 and see if they have one!

Bump for some more references for favourite sellers that you have made a vintage Rolex purchase from and are perfectly happy with. Also thanks for your kind recommendations and help guys with this attempt to make our hobby safer and more enjoyable not only to the oldtimers but especially to newcomers here, afterall more collectors the merrier! :)

(Please note requirement for a minimum of 50 posts in the vintage Rolex section to make a referral)

A public service.

This is super.

I have just started looking at vintage Rolexes. More accurately, I have just re-started--I began doing it 4 years ago, but cured myself of the watch virus before learning anything more than the numbers 5513. Now I am much "wiser" and will only look at Rolex (except one very nice internet dealer recommended considering older Omegas as well). I am keen on Submariners and their variants.

I think those of us with very little knowledge but want the more sought after models need to start with reputable sellers instead of antique shops and estate sales. But with so many internet dealers it's hard to know who's reputable. I will not forget buying a vintage Patek Philippe on line, wearing it into my favorite watch repair shop and having the owner, who was on the phone and 8 feet away, say, "A fake Patek Philippe. Where did you get that?"

This list is invaluable.

Thank you!

Not looked at this list before.......

Why is Mike Wood not 'green starred'??

He's one of the most respected collectors and dealers in the world!

He needs to be in the top list!!

Hi Ross, totally agree what you said about Mike, in my experience he's also a gem of a person. About green stars, please read the rules for inclusion in the list and awarding a green star.

I'll just add that I've bought watches from Jed (Gilt 1675) and Eric Ku (RED 1680), and have met them both, briefly. I highly recommend both of them.

I've also had correspondence with Andrew Shear, and he was also a gent whose reputation is well-deserved, IMHO.

All three have stunning inventory and are a safe bet.

No revelation here with recommending these guys, but just my input to the thread, cheers K.

OK, well I've bought getting on for a dozen vintage watches from him over the past ten years. He's a good pal.

Thanks for the recommendations Vincent, please post some more posts in the Rolex vintage section to up your post count to 50 and will add you in the vintage purchase reference list for them. Sorry about that but had to put that in place besides the min 2 recommendations from everyday collectors to discourage other dealers making recommendations for their buddies( is fine for them to make a general recommendation, not a purchase recommendation) to get a green star and to weed out once off posters making recommendations in the vintage section.

Thanks for the purchase recommendation Ross, need one more purchase reference for Mike for a green star. As replied to Vincents post above also please ensure you up your post count to the minimum 50 posts in this Rolex vintage section if not already done so so that can move Mike to the green star section once get a second recommendation.
Sorry not being difficult, I would love Mike to have a green star and am just as surprised that he hasn't yet, just that am going by the rules of the list to encourage genuine forum regulars to make reommendations to add authenticity to their favourite dealers so helps the newbies amongst us:)

Bump for one more purchase reference for Mike Wood, I know he keeps most of his watches to himself;) but he surely parts away with some too!:).
On a related note, Mike was kind enough to act as a intermediary on a watch purchase I did from a UK seller months ago even though he didn't know me, an awesome guy!

I have a 1984 Rolex Submariner 5513. I lost the bezel insert for it. Anyone knows where I can get the genuine bezel for this model beside going to RSC. I live in the Los Angeles area. Thanks

I want to post a plug for Ken Jacobs at wannabuyawatch. Though I mostly dealt with Christine, I've bought half a dozen plus vintage Rolexes from them and I do recommend them.

Thanks for the recommendation, however please note that you need 50 posts in the vintage Rolex section for it to be considered for the list.

Hi, try contacting some sellers in this seller list or the list of watch repairers mentioned in the list.

Hi, thanks for the recommendation, could you please up your post count slightly in the Vintage Rolex section to 50 as per list rules and can count you as one recommendation(think is 21 currently in the Vintage section).

Cheers mate, haven't heard anything negative about them and this list implies nothing negative about sellers not in the list or that haven't got a green star yet unless otherwise stated.
They not being in the list only means that none of the forumers here have vouched to having made Rolex vintage purchases from them.
If we do get qualified purchase references as in the rules stated in the list, they shall be added in.

Hi, I know my vote won't count as yet but feel I have to express my positive views about Mike Wood - The Old Watch Shop.

Having purchased a 1965 Precision a few months ago it unfortunately stopped working two weeks ago. I was dreading the bill I was no doubt going to face.

However, Mike asked me to send the watch back, he looked at it, sent it off to his watch maker and had it fixed. It only ended up needed a good clean but he kept me updated throughout and didn't charge a penny.

USE THIS MAN FOR PIECE OF MIND WHEN BUYING :-) so glad I did!!
