I've been in many positions (software architect, systems engineer, software engineer, test/integration engineer) in technology for the past 12 years. Currently, I owned (3 presidents, 2 datejusts, 1 daytona, 3 gmt, 1 sub LV, pam190, pam111) Rolex and Panerai watches. I've always loved watches, and I would be lost without time!

I'm an investment banker and I am 48. My daily driver is a 16600 Sea-Dweller, which fits my lifestyle, as I race sailboats in my spare time and I like a very rugged, durable, simple watch.

I got my first Rolex after I received my first meaningful bonus when I was 28 years old, and that watch was a 16710 GMT-Master, in Pepsi configuration (I miss that one), then I went through a series of SS Submariners until all of friends had them, and I didn't like the cyclops, and wanted something ultra shock proof, so that is what led me to the SD. I am usually a "one-watch" guy, and actually care for very few of the Rolex offerings, as I think many of them are tacky. I buy my watches for subtle function. I don't care for yellow gold, diamonds, shiny bits, but rather prefer brushed stainless steel, low-key professional watches. As far as the future is concerned, I think Rolex needs to come up with some new and interesting offerings, as the block-cased watches leave me wanting more. When women are the new market for men's professional watches, something is amiss at Rolex, and I hope they give the customers a range of offerings that compete with Pam, IWC, etc. I'm not interested in a unisex line.

I see now that there was no point in replying when I did not want to enclose my line of business. Due to the reactions, I can tell you that I work as a team coordinator in a small security company that makes surveillance cameras. My job is to make work shif plans for my colleagues (hate that!), doing a lot a paper work (mostly invoices) and keeping track of a lot of electricians driving about in Denmark, on their way to either repair old cameras or install new ones.

Lucky you! If I were to get into my dad's collection, I'd find a worn-out Swiss Army watch, an ugly Raymond Weil, and a vintage IWC that we bought him, for which he opted to have a quartz movement installed.

Cleaning up old military bases that have been closed? Just a wild guess. The defense department can be pretty messy.

Hi I'm 44, based in Australia, and run a small engineering company that builds waste incineration and air pollution control plants. It's Sunday and I've been working all weekend whilst the wife and kids are having fun in Vanuatu.

I have an EXP2, TT Blue Sub, GMT2 Coke, speedy Pro and an old Tudor Monte Carlo. I'm number 2 on the list for a SS Daytona which I should have before the end of the year.

I'm off to Malaysia tomorrow where I know I can walk into several AD's a get a SS daytona for about 12K USD or a YG Daytona for about 21K USD.

The urge to buy something is strong.
