It may have been mentioned here already but does the new Daytona have the glidelock clasp? One of the big YouTube greys mentions it here at 2:42 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uvx7RlMWz4

I have 3 Daytonas, 116500 white dial, Yellow Gold Oysterflex LN with black dial and gold sub-dials and a black 116500.

The good of the new one compared to mine. The indicees look better, and it also looks like they have more lume.

I think both Black SS watches look great can't tell which is better until I see it in person. These are my favourite Daytonas

White dial SS; I prefer the larger subdial rings, in the photos, but again, I need to see it in person if it's nicer with or without the metal bezel surround.

Oysterflex; they totally f'd it up in my opinion, got rid of the red Chrono-seconds hand while keeping the red chapter ring, looks ridiculous, also gold hands on the gold sub-dials instead of black hands makes no sense to me.

Both the 116500 and 126500 are lovely watches.

The new design essentially "zooms" out or "shrinks" all circles (e.g. the bezel and sub dials), making them more slim and thinned out. I think the new design is quite nice and as is the case with all Daytona's, I'm sure it will sell without a blink and most (us on the forum do not count) will always go for the newest model vs. the previous generation.

It's also interesting that they are now using the case design from the Oysterflex PM Daytona's. So I guess one mold to serve them all.

Thanks to everyone that post proper pictures and side by side

I would say very similar BUT to me they can stay both in the same collection.

I like the beefier look of the 116 dial and slimmer lugs and at the same time I like the zenith feeling the 126 is giving.

3 aspects of the new one I need to confirm live:
- the style of the graphics on the bezel ( modern I would say) might clash with the zenith vibe of the dial
- the bigger protection lugs
- the metal ring on the bezel

My wife pretty much said the same thing. lol

When I showed her a side-by-side picture of the old sub and new sub, I asked her if she could tell the difference. She then said, “one is fake and the other is not?”

Anyway, I came here to say that although the comparison isn't perfect, it should be a pretty accurate representation of the sizes and case characteristics. Why? Because I based the scaling on the fact that both watches have lug widths of 20mm. The angle the photos were taken from and the focal length of the lens they were taken with could both influence the result, but this is as close as we're going to get for now.

If you check my reel on IG, you will see my full synopsis. I do believe it's still going to measure roughly 37mm at the outside diameter of the bezel. They line up perfectly in photoshop when overlaid and scaled appropriately based on matching the bracelet width. Lugs are definitely longer, and the one on the right side is definitely thicker.

I hope that's helpful and allows you to trust the image a little bit more knowing what went into it. If you think there's a better way to match the scale, I would be willing to try!.

Interesting. Thanks for the work on this.

How much thicker do you feel the new one is?

How do you know it’s still a 20mm bracelet? I couldn’t find info on this

Not a fan at this angle. We aren’t really going to know for sure till we see it in person. Ether way, im keeping my old one, not only because I don’t like the ring but because I feel the old one looks more sporty and I’ll never get a new one from the AD anyways.

Besides, I just spoke to my AD to get me a GMT and a Sub.

It is a bad angle but the Daytona's previously never had "bad" angles.

Looking forward to passing judgement in person on this update.

I can't believe Rolex made the Daytona worse. Whoever is running design should be fired.

So rolex downsize submariner case and upsize daytona case??

I thought rolex bring bag smaller lugs to their new generations watches because so many rolex fans dont like the maxi case
