Taking my watch on vacation
So when I go on vacation I tend to leave my watch home.
We are going to New Mexico and Texas for 12 days, leaving tonight. I had planned to take a beater with me so not to worry about it being scratched up. No worries about theft. I think I have made the decision to bring 2 watches, during the day a beater and at night when we go out to dinner, wear my 40mm Explorer. I am not getting any younger so I might as well enjoy it now. Why not! |

Haven’t you got just as much a chance of getting rolled at night for your watch as you have in the day? If in doubt just take a beater

Taking my watch on vacation
I’m going to Seattle in 2 weeks to visit my daughter. I’m usually the first to say, “I wear a Rolex anywhere and everywhere I go.” But I’m just bringing my Apple Watch with me this time.

I always bring a watch on vacation. Then at times I might cover it up or just leave it at the hotel if Im not comfortable in a area at night. Very rare though that I leave the watch.

I always wear my Rolex watches whenever I go on vacation. If something is going to happen, let it be. I try not to stress over wearing a watch as much. Life is too short. Wear them everywhere you go and as stated above, make memories with them. Safe travels!

I take my watches everywhere. Usually on vacations I’m walking around in long sleeve shirts, which can be rolled up or down depending on the situation.

It just depends on where I am going and what I am doing. I have gotten to where I have taken my Tudor FXD and both straps and either a Seiko Diver or a G-Shock recently.

I would just take the Explorer and not bother with the beater. That's not a watch that will get a ton of unwanted attention. Wear it and enjoy it. If we were talking about a yellow gold day date my answer might be different. Explorer is not that kind of watch

I like to wear a subtly nice watch on vacation (something without a cyclops, my Explorer for example). If I’m spending any time being concerned about getting rolled on vacation then I’m not vacationing right.

When it comes to vacations, if I can’t wear a Rolex, I don’t vacation there. It’s that simple.

This is why I bought a Tudor BB54, and had a smaller Panerai before it to take on Holiday and for weekend breaks.
No need to have 10k+ strapped to your wrist in a strange place. Go and read the horror story over in the Open Discussion Forum, about a man being beaten and robbed in Amsterdam. |

Just make sure that you have insurance on your watch, that its health care proxy has been completed and notarized (ya know, just in case its falls and the crystal gets blemished. Does it want to get buffed or a full replacement). And of course, please make sure it has a current final Will and Testament so its wishes can be honored shall it suffer its last tick.

Wow. Very thought out. How about put a Rolex on your wrist(this is The Rolex Forum) and travel? That should be about it. What happens, happens. I would be more concerned about the safety of the plane.

It depends on where I'm going to and what I'm doing, hence it's a safe place I don't leave my watches behind, you can go with one Rolex to enjoy your vacation.

Taking my watch on vacation
I travel extensively across the country, and never worry about my watches. However, if I drive into SF for an event, I don’t wear a Rolex.
I saw Ricky Pearsall on the side line in last night’s game, wearing the Rolex that probably got him shot. What a blessing, that he was not seriously injured. He will be out for at least 3 more games, though. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

One of the main reasons I buy Rolex is to travel with them. I usually bring only one and it stays on wrist even when I sleep and shower, if I bring multiple I use my Watchpod travel case.
I see no point in buying Rolex if I'm not wearing them abroad and building great memories with them. |
