DJ Pink Roman did i get a "good deal"

Just returned from 47th street in manhattan's diamond district....was in search of a ss silver face non-roman fluted bezel, Z series...jeweler presented me with pink face, roman numeral, plain polished bezel, SS...

I went in with a jeweler friend of mine who frequents the store to make wholesale purchases...the watch looked beautiful although it wasn't initially what I wanted..the look of this quickly changed my mind....i paid $3800 cash

This is brand new Z-series....was this a good price or did I end up paying MSRP?

Hi and welcome to TRF.

Is this the model 116200? If so, is it on Oyster or a Jubilee bracelet?

Either way, you got a very good deal. On Jubilee, you'd have to probably pay an extra hundred bucks. Post some pics when you can.

Thanks - JJ

Was it $3800 out the door or $3800 + tax?

$3800 out the door..remmeber I went with jeweler friend who has been doing business with this store for many years

no tax, no receipt/proof of purchase, etc..

The papers read

Official Rolex Jeweler- Foxwoods Resort Casino
Name and address of purchaser- someone in Flushing, NY
Purchase date- 10/3/06

All clear stivkers were still on it...so it was pre-purchased but never worn

Fom what I understand the sales tax rate in New York is pretty high, however, regardless of condition, you did not buy straight from an authorized dealer. I don't know if the pink face ps the value or anything, but I would say from the information you;ve given that you got a decent deal. You certainly didn't get ripped off, and you didn't pay MSRP since you didn't pay tax on the MSRP. But you may have been able to get a lower price through a gray market dealer from out of state (however you would not have seen the watch in person prior to buying.)

So, to sum up, I think you got a decent deal. Besides, you got a Rolex, and tat is the most important part

Here's a good example:

Looking at that I would say you got a good deal because in my opinion buying in person is priceless over ordering online.

Welcome to the salmon faced DJ club!

j/k - I don't have one but perhaps some other TRFers do and a new club tag can be created!
