New Models coming out,how will it effect?.

Just curious, if new SS Models come out, how will that effect Forum members and new Roelx buyers?

Go ahead and buy current Rolex line up, knowing that it will be gone soon, they will become collector items way down the road, and you like the current models ??

Or delay purchasing that new Rolex you want or additional Rolex watches and wait until the new line starts hitting the ADs in probably 6-12 months?

I think I would just buy whatever I like (what sings to me) and be happy with the purchase either way.

That being said it is great that Rolex updates thier line.

Juz go with what appeals to you!

Personally, I was torn btn the Sub & GMT coz I love the proportions of the triplelock crown on the sub and the 3185 movement on the GMT... so hopefully my wait for the new GMT will pay off! ;>

Cheers!

If I were laying a bet, I would say that the changes will be minimal, and that there are not likely to be any new model, new color.
It seems unlikely that Rolex would knowingly create a collector's market for the "old Rolex's" that they could not profit from. These people know watches, know their customers, and know how to control their market. JMO. Larry.

Would tend to agree with you but expect to see a few new high priced bling type watches, thats where the huge profits are today. But afraid today IMHO Rolex does not even think about there past vintage history. Its just now a big money making machine. They are now starting to refuse to service some of the the older watches that after all made Rolex what it is today.Yes they sometimes like to brag about there heritage, but little else, and many in the vintage world far from happy.

I guess I would take the opposite approach. Anyone whose delt with vintage Rolex knows Rolex could care less about their older pieces.

If new models come out, and look super good! I predict a mass Rolex buying spree, so as to be the first one to own a new model.

Maybe Rolex will discontiue it's entire SS Sports model range and only offer TT and Gold models? (doubt that would happen) but can you imagine the waves that would cause in the WIS world?

Wis = Watch Idiot Savant.

1.A person self trained to sleep in 5 positions while wearing his/her COSC certified chronometer in bed.

2.A person who opens the back of a new Patek on the first day of acquisition and hand winds the rotor to tighten up the main spring.

3. A person who takes his 2000 meter water proof Rolex SD off from the wrist. And puts it into the deepest pocket, and three plastic bags before walking into a rain storm without any rain gear on.

4.A person who waits every 5 minute in front of his radio controlled clock in order to adjust all his/her 14 mechanical watches to the accuracy within -2/+2 seconds per 24 hours.

5. A person who can memorises all serial numbers of the Rolex watches made in the past 60 years but keeps forgetting the wifes wedding anniversary.

6. A person who washes his/her watch in luxury shampoo, polishes with specially bought cloth. Then rests it on another specially bought cloth just encase they scratch the stainless steel.

7.Well like quite a few on our forum, but think there is a bit
of WIS in all of us,but in some a lot more than others.

I agree. It would seem that a watch with this heritage and prestige would be able to be serviced forever as long as an owner sent it in. Watch parts certainly don't take up much space and the talent to fix them should always be there. Even if RSC's could'nt do it you would think that it could go back to Geneva and be repaired.

Afraid like your avatar picture, those days are long gone, bet old Hans sometimes turns his his grave.Especially how Rolex USA now, seem to have such a strangle hold, on what you can do to a watch, that you or anyone bought. And like you IMO Rolex should be able to repair or service or make any part needed,to keep any Rolex watch running a lifetime and beyond.

The only news coming out of Basil this year, will be that Rolex is moving all production to China.

What if Rolex moved all production to China

How would you feel and respond if Rolex announced at Basil, that all Rolex production was being moved to China by 2011. I do not want to hear "It can't happen" what if it truly happened! ------------------------------------

That is why we married on St Paddie's Day. Easy to remember, if sober!

If they moved out of Basel to Chungqing they would utterly destroy the brand.

I'm sure Seiko make nice watches, but I don't seem them generating the mystique or panache that Rolex do.

Seiko is Japan not China, and the Seiko Grand, in all respects other than image.IMO would beat Rolex, plus many other high end brands, when it come to movement or finish, and customer service.
