Pet peeve(s) for your Rolex?
I'll start.
I don't know why but I can't stand watches that the neither the case nor the lug curves down so that the watch sits on top of the wrist only on the case back and doesn't "hug" your wrist. I'm not taking about the lugs overhang on the side of the wrist but that the case/lug doesn't conform to the wrist. This is a big problem I have with the GMT2 which basically has a straight slab and the reason that I'd rather get a 36mm Explorer just so that the watch would hug the wrist more. Every time I look at GMT from an angle other than from the top directly, I see the slab on my wrist. Also the ends of GMT lugs are so sharp. |

Pet peeve of mine is a poorly finished Exp II bezel.

For me - I have a few: over-polishing of any kind, deep dings, lugs that have been polished down and are flush in height with the SELs, blue hue of AR coating under the cyclops, spring bars that protrude with/are flush with the case flanks etc.
The struggle is real

Crown that doesn’t screw closed and have the Rolex crown straight up at 12 O’Clock. I have several Rolex watches in my collection and non have a crown that stands at 12 O’Clock
Very few in the catalog that have exhibition case backs. I love the exhibition backs and enjoy watching the movement….move…. |

My pet peeve is the very sharp razor blade case edges. They should be softer and rounded.

The only thing that I would consider a pet peeve is that I can't walk into a Rolex authorized dealer and buy something at retail whenever I want and whatever I want I would probably have a collection of 40 plus Rolexes by now if that were the case. Oh well life is what it is and I am content with what I have in all things I find contentment and yet I strive for better and more. It would seem that contentment and striving for better and more are mutually at odds but amazingly there's a balance.

None, love them all, the only thing I can think of is the AD grief. All the work involved to get a new watch.

I don’t own any fluted DJ or skyDs because I don’t like how the white gold bezel ages with the watch and looks almost dull/ milky. Under department store lighting it’s like a crystal chandelier. But under lower lightings I just didn’t like the way the bezel looked so I no longer own any fluted bezel watches in my collection. I know it’s weird but I always bugged me. It was almost a slight yellow tint to it. I would have actually preferred it being SS.

Was lucky on my favorite watch. My buddies Batman was perfect too. What would drive you more crazy is if you had one that was almost perfect but it sat slightly off. lol. I have one like that. Just the random luck of the draw unless you get a gold skyD. Those are always perfect. I would have loved to have an exhibition case back on my Daytonas. I think Rolex is just lazy. At least on all PM watches the crown should be perfect. They can do it with the gold SkyDs so it’s doable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Pet peeve(s) for your Rolex?
The only pet peeve I could think of are polished center links on the oyster bracelet. This doesn’t apply to any of mine because I either have a jubilee or brushed oyster on my watches, but I really dislike PCLs.

I have no pet peeves for any of the Rolex watches I have bought over the past 50 odd years. But with many of todays Rolex owners well I could write a book on that subject peeves but with some many are which has turned into more like obsessions today. With all my watches I just wear and enjoy wearing them on the wrist to tell the time, and Rolex just love the history of the brand which has giving me great pleasure to study and learn about over the past 50 plus years.

An opportunity to get this off my chest...
I find the Azzuro blue dial / Roman numerals combo on my Datejust is completely illegible in certain light conditions. For some reasons harsh indoor strip lights cause the dial to 'flare' and the numerals and hands to disappear. And no, this wasn't obvious when I tried it on at the AD. |

I would also say the sharp edges and knife-like lugs on my 126610LV, you just can't beat the comfort of a 16610.... when it comes to subs

Scratches on my clasp. No need for the polished bracelet there!

Perhaps more bewilderment on my part than a peeve, but here goes:
The Rolex Deepsea Challenger. Rolex seems to have gone to enormous effort to develop a watch that can descend to a depth that would kill the user. What the heck was the point? |

Good question, OP.
It’s clear some have “pet peeves” with aspects of the hobby and particularly as it relates to Rolex, though your question seems more directed at the watches themselves. I find that no easy to use micro adjustment is a glaring omission at this point for a sports watch. Glidelock or T-fit ideal, ez-link acceptable. An “on the fly” micro adjustment feature seems like table stakes. |

Oh I think I found a reason (I know the historical reason) while wearing the Daytona for a while: just think of the screw down pushers as fluted bezel; they reflect light. I've been noticing how even the indices of Daytona to be shiner than other watches I own. Somehow on my black Daytona, indices, sub-dial rings, and the pushers all reflect light in a way to make the watch more jewelry like.

When someone comments on my watch by calling it a "rootbeer", "panda", "Hulk" and so forth. It's a GMT master 2, Daytona or a submariner. If you use little kid names I'll assume you don't really know too much about rolex and I'll usually change the topic.

Right hand crown and no-holes case are both engineering fails/throwbacks. And they should bevel the underside edges of the bracelets for comfort.
