Don't give up.

I walked into my local Rolex AD five weeks ago for the very first time and met a salesman who seemed genuinely interested in helping me out. I tried on a few stainless steel professional models, drank some Pellegrino, and noted my top three choices. He called last week to let me know a 126610LN arrived with my name on it (#1 on my list). I know the Sub date isn't the most difficult watch in the world to get but that's not what this is about. I'm writing this for those of you who have given up hope. Don't. These things happen.

Very strange how the allocate, considering some wait years on end for these I wonder how they get bumped down the list.

Nevertheless enjoy fantastic watch looks great :)

Definitely seems like a favorites/spend history call by the AD. I have a friend who has been waiting for 2 years for a Sub or Exp 2 at the local AD. He is a friendly individual and it seems that every time he visits the AD (and same SA) he gets smoke blown. He asked if it was common for an SA to have him sign multiple "interest forms", I told him it is my understanding that those go straight into the garbage. At 2 years I let him know he needs to find a new AD or if he can go to a different SA.

I think sometimes SA's go with their gut on some of their allocations and I think the list is a guideline for them. Like the OP said, if you can connect with someone in a certain inexplicable way, you may be able to bypass the line.

^^^^^^^^

Yeah its a mystery really. IMO of course. Other than the typical VVIP's etc

As I have stated a hundred times here on TRF that my current request has been hard to say the least. Meanwhile I got the 126610 within a few weeks it was announced from my A D. Cant seem to understand why a 505, any dial choice is so hard. But this is another story

Main things is congrats to the O P on your new Sub. Happy for you. I have one. It's awesome. Granted I hardly wear it.

Congrats! There has been discussions online that Rolex would like to get 40% of their allocation to first time Rolex buyers. I have seen a small sampling of this on the forum over the last month, maybe the ADs are listening. I personally think it is all about relationships and give them to who they want it give them to.

Like a lot of things in life, it's essentially a "popularity" contest, whether someone/people like(s) you or not.

Why they "like" you, of course, can vary: spend history, buying other products, how you look, how you dress, your hair, from same town, like the same whisky, Star Wars fan, etc. Can be completely random.

Obvious every sales guy sizes you up when you enter the store. So it makes sense a new customer still can get something like sub within reasonable time if they think you have potential.

For starters dress like an adult, wear a nice watch, get a good haircut and brush your teeth before you walk in to an AD or any place actualy:)

Very nice. Sub is tough and will last a lifetime. Classic.

I was offered Daytona, Milgauss, GMTS, OP41, DJ41 all without purchase history. Just being a normal person.

Bought the OP first because I couldn’t afford others. Bought the BLNR a couple of days ago after saving up for a long time.

Hoping for a Milgauss next!

I might even be interested in a Daytona if they update it!

Congratulations on getting the SUB Date. It's a great great great watch. Your experience is not unheard of, but many out here, including myself, have inquired multiple times at multiple AD's and still have not been offered a SUB. I personally am not giving up on getting another Rolex, but it may just be right place and right time that makes it happen. I don't know anymore.

^^^^^^^^. Give yourself a few decades with Rolex and you will settle in to how and why Rolex evolves their movements. On a similar theme, I might be interested in buying a LaFerrari if Ferrari upgraded the cabin with USB-C instead of the outdated USB-B.

Congrats OP on a huge score. The new Sub41 design is damn near perfection.
