2024 No Date VS Older?
What specifically makes the newer models better than a sub from 2010 or so?

Why do you believe the newer version is better than the older version?

I find the 114060 the most comfortable Rolex I have ever owned, can’t comment on the new one

"Better" is all in the eyes of the owner. Some prefer the older. Some prefer the newest version.

As a Travis said, it just comes down to preference.
Some prefer the modem for it’s ceramic bezel, while others like the aluminum more. Same goes for case, bracelet etc, etc. |

Sturdiness of the newer bracelet and quick adj clasp.
Cerachrom can take a beating unlike aluminum. |

Exactly that but myself not a fan of any Rolex watch with a ceramic bezel so prefer the 5 series.

To me the new ceramic bezels look like cheap plastic, my 24 year old aluminum bezel looks just fine and is cheap to replace if needed. Today’s subs are babied expensive jewelry, bezel abuse is a non-issue for the 99% who don’t dive with them. And the new bigger chunkier subs just don’t work on my wrist size. I do give the new ones points for the ‘look at me’ factor if that’s what you want

I have had a lot of Submariners over the years and just got a new to me 124060. I am enjoying it and really can not tell a huge difference between it at the 114060. It is nice to have the longer power reserve but I do not need it. I do like the 6 digit Submariners over the 5 digit ones for the case, bracelet and most of all, the glide lock clasp.

The OP has asked about Subs post 2010.
So 6 digit Supercase “40” mm vs 6 digit slimmer lugged “41” mm. No pre ceramic. Sizes are in inverted commas because from memory there’s about 0.5mm difference in reality. So. What’s better? Objectively the 41mm has a better PR That’s it. Everything else is subjective. (Arguably the older 31xx movement is better insofar as it doesn’t have the same mystery random ailment that the 32xx movement design has - but that’s another thread). I don’t think my wrist change size during the day more than any other wrist does, let’s say it’s 5% swing. But, when you measure those 5% in inches or centimetres, it is more because I am very tall and big. Half link adjustment I have on other Rolex sometimes is not enough. So, for me, ability to adjust the bracelet on the new Sub is a game changer. Perfect watch.

I too prefer the 14060m, but that’s because it’s the Sub I own; if shopping today, I’d like the newest one available to me.
