Incoming: The One

Well I finally got my grail. I’ve been dancing around it for years. I tried on the PT Daytona standard dial years ago at my AD, but the timing wasn’t right. Then went through buying/selling 20+ watches in search of what worked best for me. I seem to always come back to a Daytona, as they just wear so nicely on my 7.5” wrist, can be dressed up or down, and are easy to live with.

I’ve gone back and forth on the dial, standard or baguette, as there are pros and cons to each as I plan to wear regularly. Ultimately I preferred the baguette dial of the outgoing model and knew time was running out to get a new one. So traded in a few pieces and got a new October dated 116506 today.

It fits like a glove and wish I would have bought this sooner. Here are a few pics from today, notice how the dial and bezel look different in various lighting.

Thanks for reading!

The Daytona you got today and the Day Date in your avatar are my grails. It's a shame that Rolex added the brown ring on the subdials of the new Baguette Daytona, but it is what it is.

Congratulations on a stunning piece

Thank you and agreed. Actually, I wasn’t a fan of the new bezel ring either. I like the full ceramic look as cleaner and sportier IMO.

Also, I don’t wear brown at all. Part of the reason I’d waiting so long to pull the trigger. My wife thought I was nuts to buy a watch with brown on it. But it’s a good combo, changes shade with lighting, and tones it down compared to SS white dial with black bezel. I love it so far.

Possibly the ONLY watch I would ever wear with diamonds on it. Absolutely stunning. Congrats, OP!

Congrats! You made the right dial choice, an absolute stunner in person. One of my favorite watches I have owned.

I love it. Probably the only Rolex I would consider with diamonds. It just works! Enjoy!
