Cheaper in Oz now because of AUD?

I'm wondering withe the big drop in AUD if the prices are any lower in Oz.

What would something like this cost?

Style No: 178274sjdo

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Watches. 31mm stainless steel
case, 18k white gold fluted bezel, silver Jubilee dial, diamond
hour markers, and Oyster bracelet.

I tried calling a place called the HourGlass - and they quoted me AUD$10,000! Must be a joke right?

I have an AD here in HK willing to part for USD$5800. Guess I won't need to take an Ozzie trip afterall if the 10K AUD px is real :(

With the AUD falling the price of goods will only increase.

I thought that prices of some stuff like rolexes would be set once a year. therefore with the AUD falling, it would actually be cheaper for ppl buying with usd. i'm just trying to see if 10K AUD is a ridiculous amount for the watch i'm looking at.

It is cheaper to buy in Australia due to the exchange rate.

I don't think there has been a Rolex price increase for about 12 months.

Also, you might need to go to the shop in person if you hope to get any discount, as AD's will normally only quote over the telephone RRP.

Without wishing to advertise I have had good experience with Grima an AD in Melbourne.

That price sounds about right for a datejust with diamond bezel if you can find one. Went into 2 ADs in Sydney yesterday and both were running very low on stock. Seems many tourists are taking advantage of the weak dollar. Both ADs also said that due to the weak dollar they are expecting a price rise in AUD in the not too distant future.
