My new purchase 1680

Hi there
Just bought this today and love it …. Wanted to get a few opinions on it. Shall I source a fat font bezel insert or shall I just leave it alone? Everything is meant to be original? Thanks
Just found out what a non quick set date is like 🤨

Insert looks fine to me as it’s not a thin font service bezel as far as I can tell. What year is the watch? Fat font bezel may be unnecessary.

It’s 1977 and so is the bracelet , would they have fat font insert on this year? Or is it unnecessary? Thanks

Your insert is not period correct, if you want it to be 'all correct'. If it doesn't bother you then leave it as is. It's the font/type you need to look for, not how fat the font is. Congrats on the purchase. Im a 1680 fan.

Watch looks amazing I would leave it as it is.

I am not sure if 100% correct it looks like a Fat font Service Insert but has a nice patina on the pearl matching your dial and hands. Is not going to be easy to sort out an insert to replace this one.

Patience and will come to you the day you least expect it :)

looks good. Insert looks like a later MK variant - cbf'ed looking it up - just read Xeramics guide on vintage inserts.

the only thing that bothers me is the crooked crystal. The first picture is most obvious as the crystal mag is at an angle vs. the date wheel. I would try to fix that - should be easy, remove the retaining ring and re-adjust. Get a watchmaker to do it if you don't have the tools.

Thanks guys …. I’m going to leave as is . Apparently it’s a mk4 insert and not a thin service one. The cost of fat font mk3 insert could
Be $2000 and not worth it . Thanks for the replies
