Deciding between these two beauties

Is that a question or a flex?

Both are nice, but I prefer the 2nd one based on these 2 pics only. If you have more pictures of the case, it will help decide.

From this angle, both cases appear to have aggressively polished lugs.

Neither. As observed above, those have been aggressively polished

The crown guards on the sub would be a major turn-off for me, this together with the thin lugs give the watch a strangely elongated look which is not so attractive in my book. The 1675 appears to be the better watch but there is not enough info presented here to make the decision to buy it.

Really I think it would be better to post a bunch of good photos instead of a trickle of bad ones. These photos are totally inadequate.

That said, I don't love the crown guards on the Sub.

I looked at these last week (plus the other 1675 and the 5513). Where you are buying from gives the ultimate peace of mind as regards provenance and that they are freshly serviced etc but also as he knows his stuff that he has priced them appropriately.
Of the two I would end up going red sub. The crown guards are not too bad in reality, insert is amazing and it is very well priced.
Just double check that there are no issues with the dial (chips etc) and ask for a pic of the case back and tie the date up to the serial number (owners son told me some non correct info on the sub but he is not the expert).
I was not looking you buy (I have a red sub and a 1675 already) so did not do a detailed look.

Seller is absolutely trustworthy without any doubt. They are 100% legit. Both look amazing in real life.

I'm not interested in the watches but can you or OP pm me the details/website of this dealer? He's European?

Is the seller first owner? Those inserts look artificially ghosted to me. I can believe they’re authentic and original but the fading does not look natural to me…

Seller is not a dealer so there is no website. A local deal.
Fairly sure that seller is not original owner. However seller knows more on this topic than almost anyone here and I am sure is giving 100% disclosure on details and is pricing accordingly.
As mentioned I was not looking to buy so did not do a detailed look but the lighting in the pics makes them look more faded than they are irl.
Overall this a buy with full confidence in seller with all facts so is simply a question of choosing.
You cannot buy from a better seller (both knowledge as well as his personal ethics).
A great situation for the OP !

what's your question - 1) what's the better reference or 2) what's the better example b/w these two?

1) is subejctive, 2) I would probably get a better example than either of these if budget affords (or if it doesn't, get a really nice 16800, later 5513 or 16710)

Why hasn’t the seller been mentioned by name or shop? Is it really that big of a secret? If he has such a good reputation then who is it??

Is JP28 the seller trying to hype these pieces?

If you haven't been collecting vintage Rolex for at least the last 5 years, it's to late to start now. Save yourself the headache and buy a new Sub or get a Batman on a Jubilee bracelet. More joy, fewer doubts.
