new old Rolex
Hi,
I am new to this site. My grandfather just gave his Rolex he had won from his employer in 1978. It is a Oyster Perpetual DATE. The serial # is:5,607,259 and the Case ID is: 1503. It currently has an acrylic face. It also has a "T swiss T" dial with 8 round and 2 baguette diamonds. Also it has a diamond bezel. The case is 14K along with an aftermarket 14K jubillee style bracelet. My questions to you are:
How do I go about finding authontinc braclets and bezels to replace these aftermartket items? Thanks, Dan |

There are some aftermarket sapphire conversions for an acrylic watch...However, they may not ensure the water tightness of your original..
the Oyster Perpetual did not come with a diamond bezel, so it is likely not authentic... also the dial sounds suspect.... Finding a Rolex bracelet of that era may yield one not much better than a good aftermarket. If it were mine and I wanted it back to original, I would take the bracelet off, the bezel off, and send it in to a Rolex Service Center and ask that those pieces be fitted along with a service.. But, be prepared... an authentic gold bracelet will cost more than the watch is actually worth..
