Bracelet Authenticity Check
Hello, I have inherited a 1971 root beer gmt. I have been looking online and the bracelet is clearly not the one that it should be (since it is not two-tone). Digging deeper, two things seem off about the bracelet so i wanted to see what you guys thought. First the end links don't match, one says 555, while the other one says 550, I am guessing this is not normal and the maybe someone put whatever they had available. The second one is the misaligned "Registered swiss made in the clasp, I thought this was a dead giveaway that this was fake but after googling I found another one that has it stamped the same way. Is this fake or just unusual?
What do you guys think? Could this be fake or just a bunch of different parts put together? Thanks |

Your bracelet is a 6251 Swiss-made Jubilee which was discontinued during the late 1970s and replaced by the new and improved 62510 Jubilee.
The all stainless steel 6251 Jubilee was found mostly on DATEJUSTS, GMTs and similar models with 20 mm lugs. The correct end links for the DATEJUST stainless steel 6251 would be 55 and 50 for the GMT-MASTER. The end links that are currently on the bracelet are - 555 which are for DATEJUSTS with the 62510 Jubilee and the 550 end links were used on the 62510 Jubilee for GMTs. The C code on the clasp is circa 1978. The bracelet appears authentic except for the end links which are not correct for a 6251 Jubilee.

The clasps used to say "Patented Registered swiss made", they removed the "Patented" text in the late 70s. I presume som patent actually expired then. I have a -78 clasp that looks the same.
