Help with vintage Sea-Dweller
I have an opportunity to purchase this Sea-Dweller from 1979. It appears to be in lovely condition. It does not come with original box, papers, etc
Im posting it to see if anyone has any concerns about the dial and insert. Do they appear original and not service parts? Any unique characteristics about them? Any feedback would be deeply appreciated. If its appropriate to ask, I wouldnt mind a private message about what you would feel comfortable paying. Thank you!

I'd want to see a UV photo of the dial and hands to confirm the tritium, but nothing jumps out as an obvious red flag. Nice-looking Great White. What's the beginning of the serial number? The bracelet code is early '80s.
It's got some battle scars on the case, but so what. Overall, looks good with nice patina. Reminds me of my (former) late 5 million 1665. Double-check the insert. The font looks a little thinner than what was on my old 1665, but it could just be the lighting, and it doesn't look as thin as a service insert. There are some subtle variations in font thickness anyway heading into the early '80s. I believe that's a service crystal with the higher sides, if that matters to you. As for price, I'd just search online to see what dealers are asking nowadays. That'll give you an idea. Good luck. |

I love it. As swish77 correctly points out, it's got a service T39.
Check UV, mine had (still has) painted hands though it looked lovely. |

No it’s a Mk1 dial indicated by the upright ft printing. The insert does look like an early service insert and the bezel ring is on the change but looks like a later one looking at the side shot but other than that it looks very nice. Bracelet looks to have a VD code so from 1979. What are the first three of the serial?

Handsome 1665, early service insert judging by the 4, original silver d/w, nice crown...and with a bit of wrist jam on the clasp for good measure :-)

Nice watch... For me, its a late 70's early 80s insert. not a service one, just a thinner font.
