1966 "Bart Simpson" Submariner Help

Hi All,
I love watches, but am not very savvy. I own an Art business and sometimes like to trade. This watch came across my desk. Its an 1966 Bart Simpson I think. A friend mentioned The bracelet might be later as it is folded and was not sure about the lume. I took it to a local watch shop and they offered $4500. The gentlemen who wants to trade it is the original owner from 66.' Box and papers got trashed at some point. I was hoping you guys could help me with any info about what might have been replaced or is no correct. Also if it worth more than the $4500 the watch shop offered, seemed extremely low- but who knows! Here are some pictures.

Are the 6's closed? They look ever so open, possibly, from the photos.
I am not an expert, but this looks interesting...I am glad you passed on the 4500

If the bottom half of the six came around in a full circle like this “6” then it would be a closed six.

The sixes in your photo are open.

look like it might have been relumed? 4500 is too low but a relume will kill the value.

Let me know if you need any more pictures. The retail prices are all over the place- Do you think this watch is worth pursuing or should I just move on from it.

A watch shop offering only 4,500k for a 1960s meters-first 5513 is bordering on criminal, regardless of condition. Imagine if it were an elderly widow who didn't know what it was worth.

Plenty of references online to give you a proper idea of pricing.

Others with a lot more experience with this model will chime in but do yourself a favor and steer clear of that watch shop.
No matter this watch’s condition, the parts alone are worth a lot more than $4500.
Seems they were looking for a desperate sucker…

That bezel insert is worth $2-3k alone.

Have you been able to determine if the dial has been re-lumed? Makes a big difference. Other than that, I kind of like it as a little project at $8k.

Could you give me some advice on determining whether the dial is Relumed, is there a test they can do for something like that

Dial definitely looks relumed. Not sure what it’s worth because the buyers pool will be substantially reduced but more than $4500.

Is there some brown in that dial? Can you try to get some more close-ups with focus on the dial plate/lume plots?

Dial does look like it's going tropical. It's probably worth more than 8k even with a potential relume.

It’s worth something as a parts project. Can’t tell overall case condition, 1530 has some value if running and the insert is likely the highest value of the individual parts. Dial isn’t worth much since was relumed and many serious collectors would not have an interest in a relumed gilt dial.

Better relume will make this a very interesting watch for a lot of buyers

Is there somebody that you would recommend for a better relume?

No. a big pass. Why would you buy it unless you had another dial and other parts and time to get it correct. The dial lume has been "jacked" with and poorly at that.

I agree the repaint on the lume is bad. Like bad if I would have done it.
