Blue 15400 vs 15500. Any difference in price?

Hi all,

Wondering if between the blue 15400 and 15500 there is any difference in desire effecting difference in price.

Thanks!

Well, demand is always a component in pricing, especially in secondary market.

Of course. That’s what I want to know, if one is more in demand than the other and if so, which.

Quick look at C24 would suggest 15500 is about 10k more. While it may not be a popular opinion here, 15500 is imo a much more modern version of an RO. It has a superior movement that actually fits the watch and the cleaner face is much more timeless. Maybe I’m biased as I have the 15500 but I can definitely see why it would all things equal be in a higher demand. What the 15400 has going for itself is the fact that its production has ceased, but I don’t think it offers anything that 15500 doesn’t.

15500 FTW imo.
Time will tell, but I definitely think the new 4302 movement, the cleaner dial and a sexy bigger impressive exhibition case is definitely a nice upgrade over the 15400.

P.S the white/silver dial is hot

Actually taking a long look at C24, it isn’t that clear of a difference as you mention. (You can find 15400 ranging in the same price as 15500)
The ones that are in a difference of 10k are mostly used in mint condition so hard to judge based on that.

You are comparing arbitrary list price. Anyone can list any price they want. The reality is if you want to buy like for like you can get 15400 for 10k less. But just buy what you like more. Can’t go wrong with either.

15400 is thinner, has a two-tone version, has better proportions, a more balanced dial with "automatic" written, a smaller yet beautiful looking movement, a nicer date font, is discontinued...

The 15500 is selling for quite a bit more. If you are worried about price, then save some and get a 400

the more updated movement (longer PR) favors the 15500.
