Are people REALLY paying $10K for a Daytona??

If I happened upon a new ss Daytona, and purchased it at retail, (how much are they now?) Then wanted to resell it, Are people REALLY paying $10,000. for this watch? There is a difference between asking, and actually selling it.
What do you guys think?

Of course, there are suckers out there paying way over list for this watch...but you do realise that for around $9K you can get a brand new TT Daytona with the SAME 4130 movement and all those extra solid gold links.

Anyone who pays over the odds for any watch IMO are crazy. But thats his/hers personal choice. And IMO most of the current SS Daytona's end up in the grey market, keeping prices artificially high. But at the moment anything Daytona is on a high, vintage models like the 6263/65 are commanding very high prices $20000 to $35000.Even a mint 6263/65 box-set with instructions Manuals, and with outer box the one with the Porsche 928 on front cover. Are now selling for around £650-£700 $1,210-$1300, for just the box-set.Just a little less, that the whole watch package would have cost in the late 70s early 80s.Here in the UK average prices for BNIB S.steel Daytona is around $9000-$9300 on grey market, but some greedy ones are asking more.

i agree, 8800-9200 is what they seem to be selling at. I know many are asking 10K+ but who knows if they actually sell at those prices.

same with the LV. Seems like people are getting 5-5300 for them, but many are asking 6K+. I may be wrong, but i dont think people are paying that much of a premium.

but like JJ said, there are suckers out there, in fact there is one born every minute!

People wouldn't be asking $10-$12K if suckers weren't paying for it.

A certain US AD who's name starts with a T and ends in an OURNEAU... actually had the audacity to tell me they were selling one for $15,000?!?!?!?!?!?

Whats wrong with paying over list ??

If I would want a Daytona tomorow, I would buy it for 9K
If for some reason I want another watch 2 months after purchase, I could sell it for 8.5 - 9K without problem.

If I would have bought an Omega PO and sell it 3 months afterwards, I would loose a lot more money

I bought mine for around $9,000 simply because I love the watch and I couldn't wait. I agree that if you keep it in good condition, you won't lose money (assuming the bottom doesn't fall out of this market).

Hello S.C (?) and welcome to TRF. Personally I'll wait until my name comes to the top of a waiting list, if it doesn't then I won't be buying.

Hi SC,

A big welcome to TRF. Please post some pics when you can. Meanwhile, have yourself a ball on this crazy forum.
