how much do you wear your rolex

I have had my SS/Sub date for about 3 days now and don't want to take it off. When I was buying the watch there was another gentleman buying a rolex also. Apparently he had several from the way he talked. Anyway, he was suprised I was able to find a SS Sub. He told me that I should just take the watch home not wear it and put it up somewhere so it will increase in value. I personally bought the watch to wear. Now, a guy I am working with asked me " why are you wearing that watch at work"? Am I not supposed to wear the rolex other than only on special occasions?? I was even planning on wearing it golfing tomorrow. I hate to hear the responses I get when I do that. I thought this watch was supposed to be a sport watch. Am I going overboard with wearing this or is everyone else just paranoid??

You wear your watch?
Wow.... I keep mine in a hermetically sealed, temperature controlled, bulletproof lucite casing that will automatically explode and kill everyone within a 5 mile radius if I even think of opening it!
Talk about going overboard....sorry....
Mate, you are absolutely right, wear it and enjoy it!
Everyone else is paranoid. It's OK to look after your watches and store them safely, but unless it's a one-of-a-kind museum piece, it's supposed to be worn.
Enjoy a great watch!

There are few things in life we can enjoy 24/7, a fine wrist watch is one.
The more you wear it the more you build the most precious of commodities--memories.

A 16610 increse in value? The only things to increase with this watch are your fondness for it and the memories you create while wearing it. I love mine and wear it doing almost everything. I have a few other brands I wear on occasion, but for the most part it will take whatever you throw at it. It's a watch. Wear it and enjoy the heck out of it.

I've had people ask me the same questions. "You actually wear a Rolex while doing that?" Most recently as I was unloading an old washer out of my truck. My response was "yes, I bought it to wear it". It can hold up to what you throw at it. Don't be afraid to get it a little dirty. Just give it a good scrubbin' afterwards!

As the others have said, D, wear it. For one thing, it's only a watch. For another, you bought it because you wanted it. Why would you store it away somewhere that you can't enjoy it on a daily basis?

Don't think that it's going to increase in value. It won't. There is nothing so unique about a SS Sub that is going to make it more valuable 10 years down the line. In fact, you won't ever get out of it what you put into it. You never buy a watch as an investment. You buy real estate for that.

And how are you going to tell time if you don't wear it?

I wear mine as soon as I get home from work and take it off the next day before going to work. We are a bit short handed at the moment and I've been helping out whenever it is required. Some jobs are manual and I could end up scratching the watch so I wear my Glycine at work now.

I used to wear my Rolex all the time for everything and anything. Since I got my PAM01B, I can count on one hand how many times the Rolex has been on my wrist.

You always count on one hand, you use the other to mark off the numbers.

Sounds like you need a hand out there Adrian... maybe I should do a divisional transfer for a little while (a wee bit too hot methinks, although it must be cooler on the Hawar Islands, so we'll go there )...

I would still wear the LV though. Having knocked the 16610 around, causing a really big ding... and still getting it back from the RSC as good as new, I really don't worry about a few scratches between services

(That's not to say the LV isn't still fairly new looking (its 4 months old now already): I don't go out of my way to damage my watches, but don't mind a few scratches when they happen )

You would not like it at the moment Nick, it's very hot and humid. When you step outside, your glasses steam up with the difference in humidity. The Hawar Islands will probably be more humid and where the cormorants are, it stinks to high heaven of rotted fish. Perhaps I'll come to you.

I wear mine to work and take it off when I get home in the evening. I'm actually glad to get it off my wrist in this hot weather, and I didn't realise when it stopped this morning that I hadn't worn it all weekend.

I'd wear it for most activities, except where I knew there might be a chance of it getting damaged - gym, sports, etc.

Eg I wore it in the sea in Cyprus last year. Most guys would wear it more but I hate something on my wrist in the evening when I'm relaxing and definitely not to sleep with on.

I wear my Panerai's or Rolex everyday for every activity.
The Rolex tends to get more wear for the "rough" stuff. (yardwork, quadding, water skiiing etc, only because i'm getting lazy at changing straps lol)
Wear it in good health, you bought it to wear it. It will take just about everything you can throw at it.

I wear mine every day to work. I also wear it all weekend unless I'm doing house/yard work. It's probably on my wrist 12 hours/day.

I wear mine 27/7. I only take it off when I take a shower, or when I'm working with hand tools.

Just today I had someone at work notice it and say "You wear that watch here?" I told them that's how I know what time it is. How can you possible enjoy a watch that is sitting in a safe at home?

Wear the watch whenever you want, and wherever you want. I wear my sub almost all the time. I don't sleep with a watch on my wrist and I've got to remove the watch during surgery. Other than those times the sub is usually found on my wrist and I enjoy having it there.

Unlike JJ, who winds his watch when he does extraordinarily dirty stuff.

every day for a few weeks now...makes you want to throw away any old watches, as it makes them look so cheap. However, I still actually like my fossil with the big leather band.
