first time scratched a rolex crystal
So I wear my watches quite casually and over time I have learnt to accept that scratches and dings on case/bracelet are all part of the game etc etc, and they dont bother me.
But today is the first time I have even been able to manage to scratch the crystal. I am not sure how exactly it happened but initially I thought it is dust or something but after cleaning properly I realized that it is a scratch. Obviously I am just going to wait and get it replaced whenever is the next service (hopefully in many years) but I must say it hurts a bit lol. Pic attached for reference (i have tried to circle but ended up circling the scratch and reflection of the light (the scratch is one on the top). |

Is it on the cyclops? If so, that's interesting.

Sorry this happened.
I think you have the right attitude-wear the watch, and make repairs at next service. |

Not entirely uncommon. The protruding cyclops tends to get banged around as it sits proudly above the rest of the crystal. I've seen it on many watches.

Not sure about the scratch, but this pic illustrates how amazing the mk2 LV is though, so glad they changed the bezel as I strongly disliked the mk1.
Also Rolex can replace the cyclops at service, not a big deal. It is a bit odd though as the cyclops has been made out of sapphire since the 70s if not mistaken.

Would not worry about it the cyclops is just stuck on the main crystal with a special glue.

My understanding is the cyclops isn't part of the actual main crystal..

I sent my SD43 in for service and RSC gave me an estimate to replace my lightly scratched crystal of $155. So not too bad!

I'd get it replaced now. It's probably only about $125.

I scratched the crystal on my Sub while on a scuba diving trip. I slipped and fell while getting off the boat ramp. I'm going to keep wearing the watch and get the crystal replaced when it goes in for service, which may be 5-10 years from now.

Thanks all for the reply. It isn’t bothering me so I will keep it as is for now.
But interesting that the replacement is not too expensive. I was thinking it would be full service cost plus the cost of the crystal. |

Sounds like you can live with it but if it continues to bother you it's easily replaced.
