taking the SDDS plunge

My friend Mike somehow got me thinking my "collection' was incomplete without a SDDS. So... thanks to Len S...this was delivered on this rainy Monday morning in Ohio.
Looks like the 16600 will be headed back to the safe deposit box. This pre-owned watch already had the diver extension removed and it fits perfectly right out of the box.
It is amazing to me how many of us have the same size wrist.

The divers extension is removed? How does the Glidelock clasp work then?

The diver's extension has nothing to do with the glidelock function

do a search and you will find out that removing the divers extension gives the DSSD a perfect fit

V series $7000-$7500 if complete and 95% or better.
M series $200-$300 less.

Should M-series be any different? I was told both V and M were produced concurrently, so M aren't necessarily older than V?

Great choice, you're going to love that beast! And you're right about the diver's extension - getting it out of there helps the bracelet and glidelock fit even better!

Great acquisition. Now you can get rid of that tiny little Daytona. You must've felt like a real Nancy wearing that trinket.

Of course...

Actually, I am in complete agreement. For me, when I am wearing it, the SDDS feels more like a Panerai than a Rolex . But, no reason to "off" my Daytona

I did a search, and I can't find anything about removing the extension.
Anybody have any help?
I'm really curious about it now.

You could remove the extension if you want to. I did not the glide lock works either with or without the divers extension. the best thing to do is to leave it in a way were you can make it bigger or smaller if had had to adjust. I have a 7 1/4 inch wrist, I removed 2 links and left the divers extension on because I like the Rolex coronet on it...
