I think I am in the minority on the new subs

I do not yet have a rolex, but, soon will. THe only models I have ever been interested in are the subs and exp's. I think the rest of the collection is a bit dainty for my tastes. Anyhoo.......... I am very partial to the current 16610. I do not like the maxi dial or case one bit and I dislike the LV even more.

Which do you prefer just based on aesthetics?

So do I. Exept I also like the GMT Master model, but my target is the Submariner 16610. Beside these models, I am not crazy about Rolex, but it is a matter of taste...
Now, to be honest, with the Internet pictures I don't see the difference between the 16610 and the 116610, exept with the close up on the besel ingraved with "rolexrolexrolex". Aniway, I'll probably choose a "used" one.

The explorer II since it has a 24 hour bezel. The GMT II is nice as well, but with the PCL's, I agree it is a bit "dainty". I have no use for a rotating bezel, so the sub is out.

Tough call... the 16610 is a bona fide design classic, but I like the updates as well as the greater heft. Can't go wrong if you get what you like best

Cheers

The Sub family has a little for each taste. The old Sea Dweller was perfect. The Sub no date is old school tradition. The LV Sub is cool (if your into green) I love the ability to switch the bezel to black on the LV. The standard Sub, nice The Rolex classic. TT Sub blue or black for dress and for those who love the TT look. You can't go wrong with a Sub pick what you like and post photos as well, good luck.

Not to change your mind...but

The new, larger (41mm) Datejusts II are hardly dainty!

I love all Rolexes that don't have PCLs

Seriously, the only watch the PCLs look good on are the Milgausses IMHO.

As for the Subs, the most comfortable for my wrist is still the 16610. I really am not looking forward to the new ceramic sub, but the discontinuance of the current sub line can only be good for my 16610.

14060 for me

I prefer the simplicity of the no date sub. It is the safest Rolex to wear on a daily basis. No bling. No one really notices it.

If by dainty you mean wears small, the explorer 2 because of the fixed bezel wears small. Especially compared to the 16610.

Not really a fan of the maxi dial to be honest and the case just looks a bit weird for me. Still a good looking watch though, just wouldn't want to wear it over my older subs.

I am in the process of trying to locate a 16610 and am having a bit of difficulty, I am attempting to buy new. One dealer in my area has 'hoarded' his few remaining 16610's....super annoying. Guess I will have to try BB as much as i prefer not to buy through them.

I love the 16610. It is my first Rolex out of my three. The only thing I want on it is the green bezel. I don't like the maxi dial, it looks too busy and doesn't seem elegant. That's my $0.02.

Well, having owned a Rolex with a new style clasp, I won't go back to the old style ones, and as such, the current 16610 doesn't interest me. Can't wait for the updated model

Overall I prefer the 'old' style...can't go wrong with a 16610, or 16613, or 14060M, etc...

I do really like the new TT black Sub though...I think it's the white writing and datewheel that I prefer on this model over the 'old' style.

I prefer the older style... though i prefer the old dial, i can live with the maxi dial on the new ones....

but the blocky cases ( as Tools referred to) , PCLs, and big lettering on the bezels look 1) not so refined to me and 2) are a little to "look at me".

Less is more.
