Icon14 Tried an experiment

but it didn't work. After wearing my GMT IIC nearly every day since November, 2009, I decided to put it away for several months and wear my other watches. The idea was that when I started wearing it again it would appear new. Well, this lasted for only 8 days. I couldn't do it. I had to have on my wrist. Is this the definition of addiction?

You've got the BIG SHABOOKIE sitting in a safe? of course you would miss it. I'd wear it everyday. You don't buy one of those to hide!

Agreed. Such a beautiful watch should be worn proudly everyday - not hidden away. Obviously you have come to your senses, though!

Yeah, I think you just defined "Addiction". Withdrawal symptoms can be pretty nasty :-)

I have not seen my black ExII for two months now, and that's the one I miss at the moment. I usually keep one watch (two currently) at home, and the others rest in the deposit box at the bank. I rotate once a month, and it is a great feeling to go get one of them. It is sort of silly, but it makes me happy.

Best,

A

I totally sympathize. I could not believe that I missed my Yachtmaster while it was away at the RSC for service. It sounds totally superficial and crazy. I did get used to the look and feel of a particular watch on the wrist. It's kind of like getting used to the pillow you sleep on every night.

Plus, frankly, I just couldn't remember the date without looking at my watch.

It's very hard to wear anything else when you know your Rolex is sitting in a safe at home.
