It can be done!

Got the call! Started the journey back in September and after losing all hope I finally got the call. I introduced myself to my local AD back in September and expressed interest in a sub. I told her I would be happy with pretty much any version. I went back in October and made a jewelry purchase. Then in December I went in and tried to place a custom jewelry order and I never received a call back so I gave up and bought a pepsi from a trusted dealer. Then, I got a call Friday from the AD saying they have some good news. I swung by over the weekend and picked up this beauty. So, don't give up guys, it definitely can be done!

It can be done! (if you make a jewelry purchase)

In any case, congrats! It's a great watch

Congrats! I had a similar experience last year myself. I started inquiring about a Sub in February 2021. My wife and I had our 20 year anniversary in June and knew I would buy her some jewelry as well. Followed up multiple times, bought the jewelry I planned to for my wife… and kept following up. My AD said I would eventually get a watch, but could never give me a firm timeframe.

Anniversary passed, wife was happy for her gifts, but sad I didn’t get the watch I wanted. I finally broke down and bought an Explorer II (which was my second choice for 1st Rolex) from a trusted seller in September. I brought the Exp. to my AD to be sized and two days later he called to say he had a Sub Date for me.

Blessed to be in a position to buy two within a week!

It certainly can be done. There is luck involved but it's not impossible.

Congratulations. Superb watch. Superb pair of watches actually.

Maybe indicate how much jewelry haha. If a reasonable buy needed anyways it was really just maybe a tipping point. If a 5 ct ring at retail… then right on they better get you that sub lol.

Congrats!

Congrats but it was totally because of your jewellery purchase.

I walked into an AD for the first time in September.

31mm DateJust purchase.
38mm Tudor Royal purchase.
Hesalite 3861 purchase.
Offered me a Sub Date within two months.
It can be done...with money!

Meanwhile, guys who don't buy anything else wait for years.

Thanks guys. I bought a pair of earrings and a bracelet for around $1200 the first time I went back. Then, I went to place a custom order for a $500 bracelet and answered a bunch of questions about it and was told they would call me with the details. They never called. So, I reached out after about a week and a half and they didn't return my phone call. I figured they were not going to sell me a watch and didn't want me to keep purchasing jewelry thinking they were. I pretty much gave up at that point. The thing is that I was buying the jewelry regardless so I would rather buy it from an AD then non AD in hopes of maybe getting sold a watch. The weird part is they didn't even mention the custom order when I went back. I didn't bring it up. I already reached out to a different store about it anyway. Other then that they have been great. Very nice people. Had some good conversations with my SA. I plan on buying all my future jewelry from there just maybe I won't do any more custom stuff. I know, it's a crazy situation fellows. You gotta play the game to get a watch but it does work. With patience.

That’s such refreshing news. It proves that real watch lovers can get their prize if they just employ patience and cunning. The jewelry sealed the deal in my view.
