FS: Rolex Sigma Black Dial Oyster Cosmograph with Red “Daytona”.

Oyster Cosmograph Red Daytona:
Case Registered Design 6263
S/N: Stainless Steel 5382XXX
Inside of case-back, C.R.S. 6239

I purchased this watch in the summer of 1977 ore 1978 from Ben Bridge Jewelers in Seattle, WA as my everyday watch. It has served as such for the past 35 years.

The watch is a Stainless-Steel Rolex Oyster, It has a black Sigma dial with Red Daytona lettering. It is registered design # 6263 with a Serial No 5382XXX. The dial is referred to a sigma dial because the “σ T SWISS T σ on the bottom of the dial between the minute markers 33-27, denote the Rolex the hour markers are made from white or yellow gold. This sigma dial, was made by Singer & Cie SA, It is rare, but was considered a transitional dial.

The movement is a hand wound mechanical caliber 727 (Valjoux 72) nickel lever movement. The black acrylic bezel insert, calibrated to 200 units, is in good condition (I would replace). It has 17 jewels, bicolor black and silver dial, baton indexes with luminous dots and hands, outer minute, and 1/5 second division, subsidiary dials for constant second, 30-minute and 12 hour registers. Brushed and polished Oyster case with screw-down crown, pushers and case back case, with a stainless steel bracelet #78350. The Case-back has all the correct Rolex stamping, including C. R. S. 6239, which was typical for this mode, as Rolex used 6263/6239 case-back's interchangeably.

I had it serviced once in 1980 at the Rolex Service center in Tokyo (I believe I forgot to screw it down before the Polar Bear Plunge). I had it cleaned sometime again in the mid-1990s, and I replaced the bracelet about 6 years ago. It was serviced in the fall of 2012 by Bob Ridley at Watchmakers International. Service included cleaning, lubrication & regulation, case tube, crown, crystal, mainspring, two pushers, adjusted Chronograph function, Waterproof Test, Seal was tested good at 100’, Seals, spring bars. Repair service papers available on request.

Asking $20.5K, wire or other mutually acceptable method.

Return policy: If I have inadvertently misrepresented the watch, I'm happy to provide a 3 day return policy (from date of receipt). Full refund will be provided, once I have received the watch back in the exact same condition as was sent.
