At your age I would ask for a Rolex sports model....Submariner/Daytona/GMT.

From just a practical standpoint of economics, the Hublot will suffer a huge depreciation hit right on purchase (about 40%+) vice a 10% hit on the Rolex. Maybe your dad is just testing you to see if you make the smart choice :)

Rolex for sure. I'd never spend money on a Hublot. But the watch you are looking at is a bit feminine if you ask me. For an 18 year old the explorer gets my vote

Welcome

As others have said, perhaps look at some alternatives if this is possible.

This will be a biased forum, but I believe a Rolex is the better choice as well. See if you can't persuade your pop into a sports model, maybe one with white gold?

I have them both, so hopefully I can offer an objective perspective. I thought that I want a Hublot after seeing them and watching some reviews on You Tube. I bought one at a great price new. I still have equity in it should I decide to sale, which I am still trying to decide whether to sale it or not, but am leaning towards selling it, and using the money for another Rolex. The Watch is nice, however there is not a substitute for having a Rolex, especially at your age.

Welcome, & another vote for Rolex. But ask your dad to visit the AD and check a few watches within the budget, you might like the sports models more.

Hublot uses basic ETA movements in huge cases and ships them for many multiples of what they are actually worth. They also take a huge hit in the resale market. For your first watch I would go for the Rolex, maybe not that exact model, as they are universal currency.
