Help regarding authenticity of 1803 DayDate

Dear all,

I am currently in the process of buying a ref.: 1803 DayDate from 1972 from a reputable seller. Nevertheless, I would highly appreciate your expert knowledge regarding the authenticity of the watch. One thing which is quite troubling to me is I think there is a Helvetia hallmark missing on the bracelet?
Thank you very much!

More than the helvetia is missing.
The inverted hidden clasp is messing with me so I am not 100% sure.
If you Google Rolex hallmarks you should be able to see.

tricky one originals do exist of this band type, a real anomaly
you need to check the band other ways, remove a link and shoe me the screw hole and screw thread, also show the inside of the endlinks

I can see other inverted hidden clasps out there now so I guess it is 53 vs 55.
This one is very interesting to me, good test.

Also the seller mentioned that the watch has been serviced by Rolex in March 2021 if that could be relevant.

hi the link you show is not original, best take off another link, that screw is badly worn best replace it, you have as service clasp, the endlinks look ok, so hopefully just one bad link added you chose to take off cheers

Hi,

here are pics of a second link i took off.
Unfortunately I am unable to take off any more links as the screws are already pretty damaged and i dont want to damage them any further.

The two links that i took off were not originally assembled on the bracelet as i received the watch. They were delivered with the watch in a separate plastic bag. So maybe these two links are not original and the rest of the bracelet is?

Help regarding authenticity of 1803 DayDate

Reference & serial number engravings between the lugs could help with the case.

The bracelet is a minor point since many parts could have been replaced over its lifetime. Plus, Rolex may have only serviced the head (if the seller can be trusted).

FWIW - here’s your caseback pic:

And a known 2xxxxxx caseback to compare with your pic.

Finish on the movement shows typical Rolex machining marks and patterns.
It would be difficult to duplicate to that extent.

Sorry, can't add to verification aside from movement finish appearing legitimate, but it looks really beautiful
