5740 vs 5990/1r

Looking around in grey market. I was surprised to see that the 5990 is so much more expensive than the 5740. 270K vs 210k. Are there issues with the perpetual calendar?

5990 is kinda just the wow fun new release- everyone’s excited for the “new” offering. I’d take the 5740 PM perpetual calendar in a thinner case over the dual time stainless and thicker piece myself- especially with the difference in cost. Good problem to have- both are beauties :-). Please keep us updated- love to see what you decide

5990 for me - the execution of the PC in a nautilus is not to my liking.

I prefer the 5740 in WG. it is more elegant and less flashy.

It's a combination of the white gold being low key and not being the latest model release. I have both and I prefer the 5740G over the 5990R.

I personally prefer the 5740 because:
1) the perpetual calendar is more a patek thing.
2) much more thiner, therfore more elegant and beautiful.
3) WG over steel, there is no match.

Now, you should consider the place of this watch in your collection. Which one complement the best your collection. If you have too much perpetual calendars I would go then for 5990, p.e.

The market values Chronos more than calendars. It's what's popular that sells. It's quite cumbersome to adjust the calendar
