16570 vs 16710 as Travel Watch
Debating between picking up a 16570 and a 16710 as a travel watch and wondering how the bezels hold up generally to regular wear. Looking to get either as my only travel watch and maybe add a rubber strap as well. If I get the 16710 would likely get all of the different bezels to go with it. Recognizing the Pepsi bezel would stand out the most on these, do the older models generally wear a little more discreet than the updated versions available now. Thanks!

16570 way under the radar relative to any bezel on the 16710. Plus way cheaper.

Although my 16710 is among my favorites, my 16570 is my frequent travel companion. As others have said, it has a great under the radar look, and, in my case, mine has just the right amount of wear so I don’t worry about bumps and bruises (though they don’t often occur as that’s why I have my Timex). The independent hour hand is handy!
I travel with my 16710 from time to time, only because it’s among my favorites and, after all, life is short. I always have a Casio or Timex in my travel case. M Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In my opinion it all depends on how one typically travels:
If one is more of an adventure-oriented backpack tourist, the Explorer is probably the better choice, as it's a bit more discreet and less noticeable. On the other hand, if travel is going to fancy restaurants and playing golf, the GMT would be the more suitable watch.

I wear both often when traveling and it usually boils down to what adventures are planned or just which one I feel like at the time. With the newer movements the older rotating bezel is not as useful as it once was.
The non-moveable bezel on the Exp II is much more durable than the GMT.

The Explorer is more low key IMO.
Personally, I’d rather get the 16710 and have the option to switch bezels from plain black, to a pop of colour |

I gotta have a rotating bezel. It adds so much more functionality. So the 16710 for me. And that doesn't even include the additional aesthetic choices the 16710 brings to the table.

Both are great options but IMHO 16570 for the win.

I only have the 16570, but it’s a great under the radar travel watch!

They are literally the same watch minus the rotatable bi-color bezel. Prefer my 16570, honestly. Classier piece imo and a lot less “loud”

I own both and wear the 16570 more. Love it so much, I just picked up a black dial to go with my polar.

I own both. I wear both often. If forced to choose, I’d likely go polar 16570. But man, they are great together, one white dial; one black dial. One fixed, metal bezel; one with the oh so good aluminum bezel (pick your colors). A real Sophie’s Choice.

The 16710! With two bracelets and the three different bezel inserts (plus the faded ones) you have many options to play with!

The 16570 for me would be more low key especially as you want it for travelling but comparing the two the 16710 is a way better watch especially if you get the different inserts

16570, much more low key, especially on a rubber strap. Recently went to Mexico with mine.

Between the two, I'd go 16570.
I've learned over time, I find a timing bezel more useful than a GMT hand. With my Sub and Polar out of production and hard to replace, I usually travel with a Seiko, Tudor, or my OP. |

For travel, I’d go 16710 because of the rotating bezel. Though, as others have mentioned the 16570 is more low key. |

I've worn my 16570 all over the world. Primarily because it was my only watch for 25 years. But even after acquiring other watches, I still travel with it as it's under the radar and the GMT function is useful. But you really can't go wrong between the two, both are classics.

The 16570 is my travel watch. Might slap on the jubilee when I go to CUN next month...

Two great options. Can’t go wrong with either. If traveling to countries where they may chop your arm off for a watch, the Explorer would be the way to go.

If travelling to counties where they may chop you off for a watch - just don’t wear a Rolex or an expensive watch. A 16570 is not low key at all go watch thieves eyes. It has all the Rolex DNA to be recognized: oyster bracelet, cyclope, oyster case

That’s why I have a rubber strap on mine. And a 16570 isn’t exactly a high dollar target watch

Not only is the 16570 more discrete, can't you buy both the black and polar versions for around the same price as one 16710 (assuming similar condition for all 3) these days?
Versatility is awesome, but starkly different dial colors are a lot more versatile than changing bezel colors imo. Plus you can also put the jubilee on the 16570 since it's the same case, and I think it actually looks kinda cool on the Polar. Not saying you should buy both of course, but as much as love the 16710, the prices still are a bit tough to swallow, esp in comparison to the 16570. And this is also relevant to your query, since the 16570 is more discrete and the lower value watch, so maybe safer to travel with. |

The 16570 is a real gem. It is so comfortable! I bought the 16570 way before the 16710 back in the days.
