Submariner 126610LN and 126610LV too Redundant

Hey TRF. Does owning both the black bezel Sub 41 and green bezel Sub 41 seem too redundant in a collection? Pictures of both are encouraged. Haha.

Sell the black sub then. Get a sea dweller or deepsea.

No, I have both in the 5 digit series and I would have both in the ceramic if they were available.

They are different watches (maxi dial and minute hand aside).

I’ve have both. If you really love the submariner why not have both? You can never go wrong with black. Some people just don’t like green all the time and I understand that.

Not even slightly to redundant, the color variation makes it a whole new ball game!

They can easily coexist in a collection if that's what you like.
Personally I'd go without the date on the black Sub for a little more variation.

For me, absolutely. There is just a bezel change.

Not redundant at all. Different colors for different days. Add a smurf and you're all set.

When I bought it, I had a choice and I opted for a green Starbucks, which I quickly got bored of. Why? Because he was high on him, everyone wanted to have him, and I followed the sheep after the flock. The watch is supposed to be beautiful, but not very practical, and the green in the strong sun and artificial lighting looked "plastic". Now I have a new black Sub and I am completely satisfied. It goes with everything - the true essence of the Submariner.

I will only add that I did not take photos of the green one in full sun and artificial lighting, and these here are one of the best ones in my work.

Hey, this is my 1000th TRF post !!!

For me, yes having both would be redundant as it's literally just a bezel change. I'd rather spend the money on something materially different - different movement, different model, etc.

That said I did own both an LV and an LN in the 5 digit, but that was because the LV was (originally at least) marketed as a genuine 50th Anniversary model and at the time it was a different offering from Rolex. Now the LV concept has been watered down to it just being a different colourway in the catalogue, so for me, I'd only have one or the other. (And I'd choose classic black every time).

I think the green bezel is a nice splash of color while still keeping the classic black dial. It looks quite nice but doesn't go with everything (can't say I've ever based my clothes for the day around my watch) like the all black sub does. I think getting an all black sub and then the green bezel date model would give you more variation as noted above, having both colors with the date might be slightly redundant I suppose but at the end of the day. They're just watches, buy what you like and enjoy it

I think it depends on how many watches you have. If I just had two, I’d want some variety

For the 12 series it is just a green bezel. If a Hulk and an LN then no it is not redundant as the dial is also green.

SD43 instead of Black Sub, or Hulk instead of Starbucks would be perfect

For me, yes. Watch spaces are at too precious for me to consider two of (effectively) the same watch. But we each have our own preferences and choices to make - there is no right or wrong in watch collecting.

Some only collect dive watches, some GMTs. Buy and wear what you like. None here will judge you.

I've got the New Sub (ND) and the Cermit. I love them both. My older GMT II has seen less wrist time since I purchased these. My next watch is the Root Beer GMT.

In Rolex world where the shape of the number font is a big deal, a green ceramic bezel is a huge difference in the way the watch looks even to the “normal people”. Green on a diver for Rolex is significant on many levels and always will be for the Rolex collector.

Exactly, if you have a couple of others then fair play.

As others have said, it depends how deep your collection goes.

I think in a 8+ collection it is ok to have two SS Sub 41s, but anything less than 8 and it would be redundant.

And fwiw, I sold my Sub Date (116610LN) after getting a 126610LV. After acquiring the LV I never found myself reaching for the LN again.

On the 5 digits the dial, hands, bezel insert are different making two unique watches (yours are in amazing condition!). On 6 digits it's just the bezel that changes - I find having both redundant.

To an aficionado not redundant at all. To the average person, at a party, the same watch.
The green on green LV (11 series) is a noticeable difference however, IMO.

For me it's blue bezel, which signifies water better than green. I was hoping and wait for Rolex to release a new SS Sub41 with blue bezel. I couldn't wait anymore and purchased with the green bezel. I like it though. There is a Smurf with blue bezel, but I can't justify cost of that watch.

Submariner 126610LN and 126610LV too Redundant

no not redundant - because one is black bezel and the other is green

However, I would add maybe a little bit of variety such as

124060 not date and the 126610LV date

I have the SD4K and 126610LV in rotation
...so cyclops vs no cyclops
