What do you prefer

A colorful Rolex that looks pretty much the same in any light or a ‘monotone’ Rolex that looks different in every light?

Still not a fan. If you like it don't let anyone else influence you though.

It's mostly the bezel that's the problem for me.

I think the fact that I’m wearing it means that I would like to influence rather than be influenced, more of a ‘user perspective’ of a unique and special piece.

It's an interesting question and I've had a similar internal debate myself, as I've owned a monotone YM pt dial ref 116622 for 7 years and a TT Bluesy 126613lb for 1 1/2 year.

A colourful sunburst dial doesn't look the same in any light, on the contrary. It's actually a lot more playful than a flat dial or monotone dial. That's kind of the whole idea of sunburst, right?

I live in a sunny climate with very little precipitations throughout the year. Blue sky pretty much all year long, bar a few days. In these conditions I've come to the conclusion that I prefer the monotone most of the time because it nicely comes alive in the sunlight, but not too much. I like the way it shimmers with a certain subtelty. The Bluesy on the other hand goes berserk, turning almost electric blue under a strong light. It still looks nice but can be very intense outdoor. Indoor it's another story, the dial goes almost navy blue.

However, on an overcast day, the monotone YM can look a bit dull. The Bluesy on the other looks amazing in these conditions, far more interesting and full of nuances.

The YM never looks brash, even under a strong light, it can behave under any circumstances, it's classier in that respect. The more light, the better it looks. The Bluesy on the other hand is the opposite. The less light, the better it looks. It can be a bit much on a clear shiny day, that effect can be nice but not as a daily driver, to me at least. That's the reason why I prefer wearing the YM during the week and the Bluesy at the weekend. If I lived in a rainy climate like I used to, I might wear the Bluesy more often and leave the YM for the few sunny days.

That is my favorite color combo in the YM2. Congrats!

Yes agree, the Bluesy is definitely a dress sports watch more than a casual sports watch to me…

Totally get it, i see this with my hulk, personally I think it looks great indoors, but in direct sunlight it’s a bit too much, too bright and reflective ...
